I look back with great respect on my coaching and teaching careers. It was incredibly rewarding to work with students and athletes and to be part of such a meaningful profession. Sometimes, you simply have to appreciate what you were fortunate enough to experience, be grateful for the memories and impact you made, and understand that life has a way of moving us forward. I’m thankful for those experiences and will always value the time I spent doing what I loved. by @profc12

Even at a young age, Max has a remarkable way of looking at the world. He loves order instead of chaos and enjoys figuring out how things fit together. While many kids might rush through a project, Max takes his time, paying close attention to every detail. His patience and determination are truly impressive.
One of his favorite hobbies is building LEGO sets that are designed for ages 18 and up. He carefully follows every instruction, making sure each piece is in exactly the right place. To him, every brick has a purpose, and every finished model is something to be proud of.
What stands out most is his curious mind. He enjoys solving problems, thinking ahead, and finding the best way to make something work. His meticulous nature and love of building make it easy to imagine what his future might hold.
I truly believe that one day Max will become an engineer. He already has many of the qualities that great engineers possess, namely: intelligence, patience, precision, creativity, and a passion for building. Watching my grandson grow and develop these talents is a joy, and I can't wait to see all the amazing things he will accomplish in the years ahead. The future is bright!

Take Time to Pause and Reflect

As we grow older, time often seems to pass more quickly. In the midst of our busy routines and responsibilities, we can lose sight of the many meaningful accomplishments and moments that have shaped our lives. While the most significant memories remain with us, much of life can feel like it slips by unnoticed.

To counter this, it's important to make a conscious effort to slow down and appreciate the present. Taking even a few minutes each day to pause, breathe, and reflect can have a powerful impact on our well-being. These brief moments of mindfulness help reduce stress, enhance clarity, and bring a renewed sense of perspective.

Reconnecting with nature, engaging with your faith or personal values, and simply enjoying a quiet moment can all serve as grounding experiences. In doing so, we create space to recharge, refocus, and recognize the value in both our achievements and our everyday lives.

By intentionally slowing down, we not only enrich our own experience, but also cultivate a deeper appreciation for the journey itself by @profc12

Experience

One of the most powerful lessons I shared with my college students—and one I truly stand by—is this: Don’t chase money as your first goal. Instead, aim for a career that truly excites you, one that you’ll love waking up for each day. Yes, this is the hardest part—but it’s also the most rewarding.

When you're genuinely passionate about what you do, you're naturally driven to give it your all. That motivation fuels your progress, keeps you inspired, and helps you reach goals you never thought possible. When you hit those milestones, success—and a strong income—will follow. But it all starts with experience. The more time you dedicate to your craft, the more valuable your insights become. When you master your work, growth and advancement are inevitable by @profc12

Find More Time to Laugh

Laughter and fun aren't just great for lifting our spirits—they’re absolute powerhouses for our physical health! They rev up our immune systems, boost our energy, ease aches, and melt away stress. In our busy lives, especially at home or work, we often forget just how crucial it is to take a moment to laugh or just have some fun. Trust me, it’s a game-changer!

In my classroom, I made it a priority to share jokes and celebrate those hilariously unexpected moments that pop up because I know how much they can supercharge the learning experience. I worked hard to create a fun, lively atmosphere that made students excited to engage. And at the start of every semester, I’d say, “If you’re not here to have fun and learn, you might want to find another class! And don’t worry—whether you’re laughing at me or with me, I’m here for it!”

There’s nothing quite like a hearty laugh or spending time with people who make you smile to restore balance in your life. Humor isn’t just about cracking a joke—it’s an incredible way to build connections, break down walls, and get people to see things from your perspective. Embracing laughter isn’t just a mood-lifter; it’s a life-transforming strategy for handling challenges and boosting our overall well-being!

Here are some simple suggestions to spark joy in your life? Laugh at yourself (you’ll feel lighter, I promise!), have a movie night with friends, soak in the little things that make you smile, take on a new adventure, try mindfulness, shake up your routine, carve out time for fun, stay positive, enjoy dinner with loved ones or special friends, go for a walk in nature, volunteer or even get a pet! The possibilities are endless. by @profc12

Reflection: Happiness at Work
When I was teaching at Berkeley College, Molloy University, DeVry College, and even as a substitute at St. John the Baptist High School, I discovered what true happiness in the workplace really feels like. Being surrounded by bright, eager students and constantly challenging them, I began to fall in love with what I was doing. My mind was so consumed by my work that it would even sneak into my dreams—filling me with excitement about the impact I was making and how I could become an even better teacher.
I would watch my colleagues in action, absorbing the little things they did so well and adding those touches to my own teaching. And then, I’d occasionally notice a few teachers who didn’t seem to have the same passion. They were going through the motions, driven only by the paycheck. But for me, money wasn’t the driving force—it was the joy of making a difference in my students’ lives. The salary was just a bonus, far down on the list of what truly mattered. The true reward came from the inspiration that flowed into my mind, my heart, and my soul—it was exhilarating when that magic happened!
I’ll never forget the feeling of heading to work, whether walking or driving, realizing that my job was a continuous adventure—a journey I never wanted to stop. I would enter the classroom with a smile, so energized, knowing I was in a place where I could give back to society and make a real impact. My excitement was contagious, especially when I saw my students’ faces light up with understanding, when they truly connected with what I was teaching. As the years went by, I stayed in touch with many of my students and watched as they went on to find great success. Seeing their happiness as they thrived in their own lives filled me with pride and joy.
The heart of my message is this: if you can find that special place where your work brings you true happiness, hold on to it. Yes, money is important for survival, but it shouldn’t be your main focus. When you love what you do, you become really good at it, and in time, that will lead to greater rewards—financially and personally. True happiness in your work will overflow into true happiness in your li by @profc12
