Powerlifting: the sport of one million powders.
Chalk, protein, preworkout, baby powder, creatine, smelling salts, and probably others I’m forgetting.

I’m one week out from my second-ever powerlifting meet, so I wanted to share a few pictures from my first-ever meet in August. I’ve been curious about powerlifting for years and it’s even more fun than I thought it would be.

Thanks to @cm.tiniophotography for the amazing photos (please admire the way they captured my elegance and restraint in slide three), to @bayarea_barbell for a super welcoming experience, and to everyone at @spite.fitness for the community and encouragement (extra shout out to @coachryannolan and @bigbacknes)

And of course, thank you to @karldrinksbeergoesplaces for doing the laundry-of-one-million-powders every week and for being my steadiest, sweetest, funniest, hottest cheerleader. I love you so much. I’m so close to being able to bench you and you’re going to love it.

I am having absolutely the most fun ever.

I first heard about this project while doing some intimacy-related unsupervised arts & crafts on another @its_madhousefilms project. This shoot was twice as much fun as I dreamed it would be. I love this project and this team and I’m so honored to be a part of it.

Wrapped.

Here’s to the sweat and chaos and dirt and spit and glitter and joy of the past month.

Here’s to the gorgeous thing we made and the super hot and brilliant friends we made along the way.

Here’s to watching a person you love do childhood dream stuff.

For now, I can say it has been both an honor and a freaky lil delight.

Cheers. See you soon.

“Chelsea Pace never asks her actors if they’re comfortable: ‘Because they might not be, and a lot of actors aren’t interested in being comfortable. They want to push themselves in their art.’ Also, she noted, ’You usually have something stuck to your pelvic area. That’s not comfy.’”

When the fact checker read me that quotation, all I could say was, “well, that certainly sounds like me.” 🤠

Thank you so much to Jennifer Wilson and @newyorkermag for talking with me and so many wonderful intimacy humans about our field and how it is changing.

Do you want to learn more about intimacy coordination? There is an @openintimacycreatives cohort starting June 22!

I am so happy and so, so proud. I didn’t get to say all of your names on stage last night, but here’s the list:

Our incredible cast: Scotty, Ahmad, Red, Viet, Dave, Kris, Michael, Paco, our stunning angel of a fight captain, Earl, and our brilliant taiko drummer, Shih-wei.

The actors who helped build this production at La Jolla: Adam, Miller, and Ryan.

Our understudies: Akira, Haowen, and Hank.

Our gorgeous playwright: Lisa (and our mascot Ponyo).

Our amazing directing team: Ralph and Jessica.

Our superhuman stage management team: AK, Taeuk, and Sabeen.

Our wonderful designers: Wilson, Mariko, Hana, Albee, Paul, Thomas, and Fabian.

The entire hard-working (and very fun) crew.
The team at The Public (especially our dramaturgy team: Amrita and Harris)
The team at Ma-Yi.
The team at La Jolla.

Our genius and generous Associate Intimacy and Fight Director, Alex. You are the best.

My collaborator and our Co-Fight Director/ Cultural Consultant, James. You are a gift and I love you so much.

My supportive partner Karl and my curious, brave, and strong big kid, Dot. You are my home.

We made something so new, and so hard, and so special. It has been such an honor to fight and play and love with all of you.

I love you. Thank you.

Happy summer to the northern hemisphere! Open has a new batch of cohorts and a new workshop series to share!

The two cohorts that just launched, Intimacy Coordination and Intimacy Choreography, will take you step by step through a production process from interviewing to wrap with lots of practice and feedback along the way. You will work with professional actors and directors, real scripts and scenarios, and build your skills and confidence alongside a group of like-minded and supportive intimacy professionals.

Despite all your training and experience, have you felt frustrated (or baffled) by the massive distance between how things *should* go and what happens in production? Keep your cool with Open’s new workshop series: Bend without Breaking!

Things on set and in rehearsal often don’t go exactly to plan. With all of your experience and training, it can still be overwhelming when your carefully curated toolkit and process get thrown out the window by the realities of production.

In Bend without Breaking, you will learn where your process can flex (and where it can’t) and practice strategies for encountering resistance, collaborating in chaos, and doing the right thing- even when everything is going wrong.

Check out the new workshops (and the massive library of recorded sessions) at the link in bio!

Scheduling conflict? Time zone issue? No worries! All sessions are recorded for you to watch (or re-watch) on your schedule.

All’s Fair teaser!

I had the pleasure of working with some really wonderful folks on this job and I loved the opportunity to collaborate with some of my favorite West Coast IC colleagues. I’m so happy to be working in LA and I look forward to seeing the whole season when it drops this fall.

Check out the teaser for @allsfaironhulu and see if you can spot a few of the many (*many*) intimate moments.

Can you tell I like spending time with other ICs?

Last week, I had the pleasure of joining the @womeninfilmla & @jhrtsla panel about Intimacy Coordination, organized by the brilliant @datingadvicegrl. We discussed how we got into this work, our processes, hiring, training, and more.

This group of ICs is so generous and kind, and I’m lucky to be in this community with them. Thanks to @doctor.allie and @yehudaduenyas for coming to support and @infinity_fin for the photos!

I had an absolute blast at the @lortelawards last night with the SUMO team and saw some of my favorite people.

I got too excited and didn’t take pictures with most of them, but what a gift to make stuff with these humans.

Photo credit to @rallsop13 and the ✨award winning✨ @amaginnis for the step and repeat bts.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners! What a beautiful night. What a beautiful community.
