📺 S1 99 to Beat #99tobeatfox
One of my former students wrote a three word review: Bro is Him.

I hope you enjoy this supercut of my tie adjustment celebrations. A couple things about it:
1: The tie celebration was completely organic- I did it after the first game because I thought it was fun after I found the lei- after that, I was doing it for luck and flair.
2: The best ones never made air, including me being covered in sweat after Nut Stacking, putting my coat and tie back on and adjusting my tie before blowing the whistle in Ice Block, and me attempting to adjust the tie with boxing gloves on.
3: The only task I did not do this celebration was episode six game two, in the spin off against James, which I thought would be disrespectful to a dear friend.

As you know, I loved my time on the show. The show still belongs to all 100 contestants, Ken, Erin, and everyone in the credits who worked on the show. I am so proud to be a part of it. by @professorsethsmith

I teach communication. My students have told me I am very good at it.

While my time as an active participant on the show is over, I have always thought the show always belonged to all 100 players, all of which needed to play a role. The show is just as much Janice’s show as it is mine as it is the remaining 31 players.

Thanks for hanging out with me. by @professorsethsmith

Today I was honored (along with three of my fellow excellent colleagues) with Columbus State’s Distinguished Teaching Award. It’s the highest award the college offers a faculty member like me.
I’ve known I was getting this award for a number of months (and shared it online), but today’s ceremony was special, and the compliments I received were some of the sweetest things that I’ve ever heard said about me.
Thanks to everyone who helped. by @professorsethsmith

I turned in my grades in today for the end of the Summer semester, and as always, I love to share what I got a chance to learn! I exclusively taught eight-week condensed courses this summer, so all of my students were heroes.
It is getting less and less frequent that I get to teach Oral Communication, so I was excited to work with public speakers, where I heard speeches about The Amazing Digital Circus, The Great Kentucky Meat Shower of 1876, and the value of black teachers in the classroom, all of which were new and great speech topics.
For the first time ever, I ran an eight-week blended Small Group Communication course, and those students were awesome. The final project game “Through the Woods” was one of the best games developed through that project, even through the time crunch.
I even had students enjoy my online interpersonal courses (I cannot articulate how rare this is)! Last Spring I developed the class around video discussions, and this semester students really seemed to enjoy it. It’s the first time ever my online feedback matched my in person feedback!
As a reminder: The pictures don’t lie- my in person Communication classes are small. It’s not just that you can get a great education at a community college, you can get a personalized education. by @professorsethsmith

It’s graduation day!

I still don’t take as many pictures as I should, but CSCC’s graduation ceremony is my favorite part of the year.
I am exceptionally proud of all my students- both the ones that choose to talk in the ceremony and the folks that stay home. by @professorsethsmith

Hey Gang!
I learned a lot this semester!
This Spring gave me the opportunity to spend time with some awesome students. People got closer to their parents, friends, and partners with some projects in Interpersonal Communication. I got to learn about rivers, sports, and avoiding brainrot in Small Group Communication. I had the chance to work with student research presentations and talk about leadership to a room full of people.
I added a bunch of cool stuff to the Wonderwall, including a framed poster from my leadership presentation and a quotation from Episode five of #99tobeatfox that is one of the coolest things ever said about me.
One student review described me as “Mr. Rogers if he coached football”, which made me feel seen.
What a great time. Thanks for hanging out with me.
(Don’t think the pictures are deceptive- my Interpersonal classes had five and seven students in them. While not all CSCC classes are small, most of my in-person classes are. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get individualized learning, just come to Phillips Hall.) by @professorsethsmith

I was notified today that I am the recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award. It’s the highest honor a @cscc_edu faculty member can receive- it is also the most prestigious award I have ever earned.
I have such tremendous respect for the faculty here at Columbus State, and to be honored like this is very special.
There are so many people that were a part of this award process. @elyciataylorward , @mcumb002 @rayrayladyfish all wrote things that were part of a giant portfolio. @_aadams20 @julia.rose.gulia @big._.gulp @l._mocha_.l all had student work that I highlighted as a part of the process.
@dr.dan.50 and @croftsharon are amazing friends and always believed in my academic work
@swismar is always by my side supporting everything I do.
Thank you all so much. by @professorsethsmith

I am honored to present as part of @cscc_edu Student Engagement and Belonging Leadership Series. I would love it if you could join us on Wednesday March 11 at 2:30. I’ll be discussing the incredible connection between listening, love, and leadership.
I have had the chance to learn from some of the best people around. I’ve had some incredible experiences, and had documented success leading in very complicated situations. I can’t wait to share some of my approaches in a different environment than I normally would.
If you haven’t been to Columbus State in a while, I’d love to see you there. Amazing things are happening on campus every day. by @professorsethsmith
