A smart home is only useful if the homeowner feels confident using it.

At handover, we take clients through the technology we’ve installed, including Control4, security, CCTV and intercom, so they understand how everything works from day one.

This is a quick look at part of that handover process. by @proglow_electrics

A good electrical installation starts with a good electrical design.

Before construction begins, we work through how the home will actually be used and coordinate the lighting, power, security, networking and automation as one plan.

That means switches, fittings, control points and technology can be considered early and documented clearly for the client, builder and our team on site.

The installation is an important part of the process. But the thinking starts well before the first cable is installed. by @proglow_electrics

Jasper House was designed so the lighting changes with the home.

Rather than simply filling the ceiling with downlights, each space was considered around the architecture, materials and how the home would actually be used.

Feature pendants define key areas, task lighting is positioned where it’s needed and architectural lighting carries consistently through the kitchen, bar and living spaces.

Behind it all is a fully integrated Control4 system with centralised lighting throughout the home, allowing individual lights, rooms and scenes to work together rather than as separate fittings.

The result is a home that can move from bright and practical during the day to warm and considered at night, all from one integrated system.

Downlights alone can leave a kitchen feeling harsh and still miss the areas that actually need light.

Benchtops, splashbacks and cabinetry all have different lighting requirements, which is why a considered kitchen lighting plan uses more than one light source.

Task lighting under cabinetry, feature lighting and pendants can all play a role in creating a space that works during the day and feels comfortable at night.

Where the light falls matters more than how many downlights are in the ceiling. by @proglow_electrics

Some of the most important electrical decisions are also the hardest to change once construction is underway.

Lighting placement, switching, power, technology and automation all shape how a home looks and how it works once you're living in it. That's why we work through the floor plan with our clients early, considering how each room will really be used and how the different systems need to work together.

The aim is a simple. Make the right calls early, document them properly, and hand the builder and our installation team a clear plan to deliver from. by @proglow_electrics

Most of this part of the build disappears the moment the plaster goes up.

Through rough-in and fit-off, every cable and circuit is labelled and kept in order, so anything can be identified quickly at any stage. It keeps testing and commissioning running smoothly, and it means future servicing or changes are far simpler to make.

It’s a simple part of the process, but it reflects the standard we expect across every stage of the installation. by @proglow_electrics

Lighting design goes well beyond choosing fittings and deciding where the downlights land.

It considers how you move through each space, where the furniture and joinery will sit, what needs task or feature lighting, and how the different layers of light work together. Bec works through those decisions with homeowners in the ProGlow studio, building a lighting plan that considers the whole home before construction moves ahead.

Planned properly from the start, the lighting becomes part of the architecture and works naturally with the way you live. by @proglow_electrics

Hayley and Craig knew lighting mattered when they set out to build their home. What they didn't expect was how much of an impact it would have.

Their whole home was planned room by room before construction began, and now they love every little detail that shapes the way they live day-to-day. by @proglow_electrics

Good bathroom lighting doesn't simply make the room bright.

A bathroom is asked to work differently as the day moves. In the morning, you want clear, well-placed task lighting around the mirror, enough to get ready by without harsh shadows. At night you want something softer, warm ambient light that lets the room settle rather than feel clinical.

That's why we design bathroom lighting in layers, with the fittings, switching and dimming all considered together. by @proglow_electrics

Handover isn’t just the last step, it’s our final quality check.

Before a project is signed off, Simon completes a last walkthrough of the home, going over the finished electrical installation, the fittings, the controls and the overall workmanship. It's our chance to identify and rectify anything still outstanding before the project is handed over.

For us, a job isn't done the moment the installation is complete. It's done when we're confident it's been delivered the way it should be. by @proglow_electrics

The best electrical decisions are made before anyone steps on site.

At ProGlow Studio, we sit down with the client and work through the floor plan early - from lighting, switching, power, data, security and automation, rather than leaving them as separate decisions later in the build. It means the whole scope can be designed, documented and coordinated properly before construction moves ahead.

For the homeowner, that brings real clarity around how the home will function day to day. For the builder and our electrical team, it means a clearer scope, fewer late changes and less reliance on rushed decisions on site.

Better planning at the start is what leads to a better coordinated home at the end. by @proglow_electrics

With the right automations in place, heading to bed takes a single button.

The lights fade out, the blinds come down and the doors lock. Heating and cooling settle to an overnight setting, the AV switches off, and the alarm quietly moves into night mode. The whole house winds down together, without a checklist to run or a thing to remember. by @proglow_electrics
