What happens to the teacher when AI enters the classroom?

That was at the heart of our panel discussion at the AI for Africa’s Education Summit (AAES 2026) at UNILAG!

The consensus? It’s not about replacing educators with tech—it’s about equipping us with the knowledge, judgment, and responsibility to lead.

Huge thanks to the Kini AI team & AAES Lagos 2026 organizers for this platform!

Last Saturday’s Google Certified Trainer bootcamp with Happy2Host Africa was an absolute masterclass in instructional delivery and digital leadership!

Spending 9 full hours (from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM) in a room with 30 passionate educators, guided step-by-step by Lawrence was an experience that was both deeply enriching and so much fun!

Here are the highlights that made this 9-hour session truly exceptional:

✓ The Mindset of a Trainer: We dove deep into the core philosophy of training analyzing the distinct traits of a good trainer vs. a bad trainer, focusing on how to lead with empathy, clarity, and impact.

✓ Rich, Agenda-Driven Structure: Lawrence followed a meticulously planned agenda bit by bit, ensuring every minute was packed with practical value.

✓ Deep Interaction & Brainstorming: It wasn't just a lecture; it was proper, active engagement! We had dedicated time to brainstorm, collaborate in pairs, and present our ideas to one another.

✓ Step-by-Step Template & Blueprinting: We worked through a detailed template mapping out the exact Google Certified Trainer application structure. Lawrence literally held our hands through every single prompt, giving us complete clarity on how to showcase our work.

✓ New Perspectives for Growth: Even as an experienced trainer, I walked away with so many rich, practical strategies to adapt into my own trainings moving forward!

Beyond the frameworks, Lawrence gave us something invaluable.... assurance and confidence that we have what it takes to step up and lead.

A massive thank you to Happy2Host Africa and Lawrence for being such an extraordinary coach, mentor, and eye-opener, and for extending such incredible warmth and hospitality alongside his lovely wife!

Excited for what's ahead as we put these lessons into action!

What started as a simple desire to have meaningful conversations with girls has grown into a week of impactful engagements, insightful conversations, and beautiful moments of connection across four schools.

This week, I had the privilege of engaging with girls across different age groups, from little girls just beginning to understand themselves to teenagers navigating the realities of growing up. And one thing that stood out to me was their willingness to listen, learn, ask questions, and reflect.

It reminded me that these conversations are not too early..... Our girls need it.

They need to understand their bodies, recognise their emotions, build their confidence, know their boundaries, identify manipulation, speak up when something feels wrong, and understand that their worth is not determined by anyone's opinion of them.

They need to know that being respectful doesn't mean being silent, being kind doesn't mean accepting mistreatment, and being a good girl doesn't mean saying yes to everything.

Throughout this week, I have had the opportunity to reach girls with the potential to impact thousands of young learners. And we are not stopping here! More schools have reached out, and there are more conversations to be had.

The International Day of the Girl Child may be marked on a particular date, but investing in girls must be an everyday commitment.

Information is protection. Early guidance is an investment. And every girl deserves the opportunity to grow into a confident, informed, responsible woman who understands her worth and can shape her own future.

To every school that opened its doors and gave me the opportunity to connect with its girls, thank you. To everyone who believes in this mission, the work continues.

We are not just commemorating a day. We are building a movement.

..... And this is only the beginning.

A Mother for a Day, a Mentor for a Lifetime.

Guess what? I became a mother for a day to over 100 girls, from kindergarten to secondary school!

We read The Last Human Curriculum by Hakeem Subair, exploring the 12 things every girl needs to learn to grow into a beautiful, responsible woman. Through meaningful conversations and connection cards by Hani du Toit, we shared, reflected, learned, and connected.

I wore many hats that day: mentor, advocate, teacher, guide, and counsellor. But above all, I showed up as a mother.

I may not have given birth to a girl child, but my heart has room for many girls. My womb gave me boys, but my heart has embraced girls dearly.

To the beautiful girls I met, remember: you are valuable, your voice matters, your dreams are worth protecting, and your future deserves to be approached with wisdom, courage, and purpose.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your story, even if only for a day. I would gladly do it again and again!

This year, I have been intentional about celebrating the girl child.

And what better way to do that than to dedicate a whole week to engaging, empowering, and celebrating our girls as we mark the International Day of the Girl Child?

Today, I had the privilege of visiting the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Yaba, District IV, Mainland, where I engaged with over 100 girls from more than 10 schools.

It was a beautiful experience filled with meaningful conversations about the gift of childhood, girls' rights, protecting their dreams, and speaking up against forced and early child marriage.

Because every girl deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, dream, and build a future she can be proud of.

And, of course, I couldn't show up without my period-care gifts!

I went along with my favourite Besense Sanitary Pads because celebrating the girl child also means caring for her menstrual health, protecting her dignity, and helping her navigate this important stage of growing up with confidence.

For me, this is more than a celebration. It is a commitment to creating spaces where girls feel seen, heard, loved, supported, and empowered to become all they were created to be.

Because every girl matters, every dream deserves a chance, and every girl deserves a future filled with possibilities.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD | DAY 1

This week, I get to do something close to my heart: spend time with girls, talk heart to hearts, and remind them that they matter.

Today, I had the privilege of engaging the girls of GSS Girls during their school assembly as part of my week-long International Day of the Girl Child outreach.

This year’s theme, “End Child Marriage and Invest in Girls’ Rights,” reminds us that celebrating girls goes beyond giving speeches or gifts. It means protecting their childhood, supporting their education, building their confidence, teaching them about safety, and giving them the opportunity to dream.

Because their readiness for the future matters!

They must never allow anyone to pressure, manipulate, or deceive them into making decisions that could destroy their dreams. No one should force them to take on responsibilities meant for adults before they are ready.

They has the right to grow, learn, discover herself, and work towards the future they truly desires. No one should make decisions on their behalf that silence their voice, steal their dreams and opportunities.

During my conversation with the girls, we explored self-awareness, emotional intelligence, making wise choices, personal responsibility, and preparing intentionally for the future.

Because they need to make responsible decisions and build a future they can be proud of.

Last Sunday, I had the privilege of Anchoring and Moderating the LP80 All Sisters’ Praise 2026.

15 zones. One room. Over 5 hours of explosive praise, dynamic dance, and deep worship.

From vibrant cultural presentations to moments of drama and thanksgiving, it was a beautiful experience keeping the energy high, guiding the transitions, and ensuring everything flowed seamlessly.

I am deeply grateful to my big Mummy, Our Convener, Pastor (Mrs.) Abiola Joseph, our Committee Chairperson, Pastor (Mrs.) Toyin Eriye, and the entire LP80 team for the trust and opportunity to hold the room.

Grateful to God for grace, for my wonderful sister Joy Olumide whose recommendation opened this door. When I couldn't get in on my own, God used her to mention my name in the room! Thank you so much ma'am. You know I love you dearly❤️

This is only the beginning. From this stage to the regional stage, from regional to national platforms, and beyond! 🙌🏽

Thank you all for the outpouring of love and kind messages in my DMs your support means everything!

I think I’ve found a new calling! So, if you need that warm, bright, smiling face for your next event as a compere, moderator, anchor, or coordinator you know who to call! 😉

Tomorrow, I take the stage.

I’m privileged to be speaking at the AI for Africa’s Education Summit (AAES) — Lagos 2026, representing the teachers’ community.

For me, this is more than just another speaking engagement.

It’s my first time stepping into a university space in this capacity and sitting alongside university leaders. Honestly, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity.

From the classroom…
to teacher training…
to conversations around education…
and now, representing the voices and realities of teachers in a larger room.

I don’t take this opportunity for granted.

I’m excited. I’m grateful. I’m a little nervous too... but mostly, I’m READY

Teachers deserve a seat at the table, and I’m honoured to occupy that seat.

Tomorrow, we talk about the future of Artificial Intelligence and its significance for teachers and the classroom.
