CHANGE FESTIVAL. Warwick university have hosted a great weekend of events and I have been was lucky enough to be able to attend a few of them. David Attenborough examines the impact of global warming and the potential solutions to prevent further damage. We can’t be ignorant to this any longer!! GOODGYM. Such an lovely concept, combining doing a good deed whilst getting fit. From mission runs to help older people with a one off task to group runs assisting with community projects. THE MONEY-LESS MAN. Really interesting read by Mark Boyle. Mark challenged himself to live without money for a year, concerned about issues such as the conventional food industry, climate change and environmental destruction he started on a path to discover how to live a truly sustainable life and to inspire others to do the same. It’s a great book that really gets you thinking about how we live and the systems that are in place. The quote that inspired him to begin this journey was from Ghandi, ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ so he did just that. Such a powerful message, sounds quite depressing but I try and use it to fuel changes in my life so that this doesn’t become reality! We can all do our bit and collectively this will make a huge difference! 🌍

HOMEMADE CLEANING SPRAY
1. Cut up citrus peels and store in jar in fridge (left)
2. Cover in white wine vinegar ensuring peels are submerged (keep topping up every time you add peels)
3. Leave for 2 weeks for vinegar to infuse
4. Sieve liquid into a jug, add water at a ratio of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water
5. Decant into recycled kitchen spray bottle (right)
6. Clean the kitchen with your new chemical free spray 🙌🏻 Gonna try another recipe next time, maybe lavender to match the label!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME. So it was my birthday on Wednesday and my darling brother sent me this 👆🏻 a zero waste card via WhatsApp! It is nice to receive cards and in the past I have designed and made my own cards but these days I’m feeling more and more like this tradition is so wasteful. I felt like this was a good way to solve this issue! USE THE LIBRARY. So as you can see my kid has lots of books, we actually have more downstairs 🤦🏻‍♀️ so I’ve decided I’m not buying any more! I mean how many does she actually need?! Why do we buy our children so many when there are libraries full that we can loan free of charge? I’m starting a new habit, going to my local library once a week to borrow some books. This will result in less waste while supporting my local library at the same time. Libraries are so important for our communities and we should all be supporting them as much as possible. NON DAIRY MILK. Been trying lots of dairy alternatives recently in search of the best replacement for cows milk. I always pick those with the fewest ingredients and have so far found that these are Oatly, Rude Health and Plenish. My fave has to be the oat milk by @oatly which is delicious in coffee and on granola. They also do a really good custard and a single cream. Good to know this has a MUCH smaller environmental impact on the planet than cows milk, it uses 6 x less water to grow than almond milk and it seems to be the cheapest, so wins all round!
