Viewing movement from an aerial, "fish eye" view from New Zealand to the U.S.🇳🇿➡️🇺🇲

Project Trans(m)it co-director Becca Weber works with researchers at The University of Auckland to explore 360 and aerial movement in real time. Imagine going down a road on Google Maps, only instead you are moving around/in front of/behind/above dancers. How can that change our experiences and agency in viewing movement? Learning movement remotely? There's so much to consider with #dancetech.

Rehearsing online? Flipgrid (@flipgrid) is a helpful platform for recording, sharing and compiling movement with your collaborators long-distance. Shown above is footage of PT co-director @megmizantz. Meg has been movin' through each trimester of pregnancy and noting the changes each week. Check out the app to experiment with your own 2021 movement explorations!

Happy six year anniversary to us! Project Trans(m)it started as a small idea in 2015: can we keep dancing together, even if we are thousands of miles apart? We never imagined the relevance of this question in today's world. 🌏🌎

We have exciting plans to share for 2021. Stay tuned, and take the next step forward with us. 👣Above is a 2018 clip from Project Trans(m)it Phase Three in London. by @projecttransmit

Congratulations to one of our co-founders, Dr. Becca Weber, on receiving a funding award for her newest research proposal! "Dancing in/Dancing with the Digital" was selected as a two-year creative project at the University of Auckland. The practice-led research will explore the "alternative sense of embodiment produced by real time, immersive technologies through choreographic practice." It will use various forms of Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality and Alternative Reality. We are thrilled to have this unfold into 2022. #danceresearch #digitaldance #dancetech #virtualreality #longdistancedance by @projecttransmit
