Juneteenth, also known as Freedom day, commemorates June 19, 1865 and the end of slavery. With the widespread protests against police brutality and our continued struggle for racial justice during the COVID-19 pandemic, Project Z is proud to partner with @pek.ventures @eastafricanqueen_1 and Mike Dodson for a COVID prevention initiative. We intentionally chose to distribute prevention kits in Ward 8, a predominantly black ward of DC, which also has the highest death rate in DC, keeping in mind how institutionalized racism is disproportionately killing black Americans in DC. We hope that you amplify this event for those that need it. .

This giving Tuesday consider paying it forward by donating to Project Z. Your donation will prepare the next generation of youth for the future of work and entrepreneurship while providing economic mobility for underrepresented students. This year we served over 50 students and hope to expand that programming to other youth in need. Today was Final Presentation Day of the proposal and professional development training for Project Z 2019 DC Cohort I. The students responded to a RFP for technological solutions that will prepare youth for the Future of Work. The students then transformed their proposals into presentations they delivered to their senior leadership team at @OCTODC, which included the DC CTO. They accomplished this all in the course of six weeks meeting only one day a week for 4 hours, this is including training.
Thank you to the trainer and mentors for this cohort Riley Jones, Caitlin Alfred, Yasmine Saibou and Louis B. Hopkins.

Looking forward to what DC Cohort II delivers.

This week DC Cohort II kicked off! Congrats to the 12 chosen out of over 65 student applicants for this cohort, all applications will be kept on file and considered for future cohorts.
Our fellows kicked off their projects by interviewing open source designers as they start their work on developing an open source design kit. They also were introduced to @walkingforfreedomvzla to gain an understanding of the #Vr film they will be creating a website and campaign for.

In the second half of class students learned from one of our 2019 trainers, Creative Director and Author, @sincerelycdani about how to approach dressing for success depending on the occasion.
