🚧⚠️ PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON A PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT IN THE NAMUR SECTOR ⚠️🚧

On Wednesday, August 26, the CDN-NDG borough will hold a public consultation meeting on a proposed private development of 1,200 apartments near the Namur metro station.

At this point, there is no guarantee that the project will include any social housing or off-market housing. This is unacceptable, especially since it is the first project to be developed in the Namur-Hippodrome area.

Project Genesis will be there and submit a memoir, together with OEIL de Côte-des-Neiges and the CDC.

We encourage you to show up and share your thoughts on what’s happening in your neighborhood! At 6:30 pm at 5160 Décarie.

À 18h30 au 5160, boulevard Décarie. by @projetgenese

For 35 years, the neighbourhood has been requesting the construction of social housing on the public site of the former Hippodrome.
Recently, several announcements have been made regarding the various projects planned for the site, and the Mayor of Montreal seems to be backtracking on previous announcements of off-market housing. Considering this news, we feel it is important to bring together neighbourhood residents to discuss the issues and updates surrounding the development of social housing on the Hippodrome site.

Housing Rights Workshop Recap from July 11’s How to refuse rent increase

On July 11, 2026, we gathered with members of Migrante Quebec, Anakbayan Montreal, Pinay Quebec, and families from Bourret Avenue for a powerful housing rights info session presented by Project Genesis.

The Key takeaway: Don't sign anything before you know your rights!

There were valuable, big questions from the room:
- Which online tools can I use to find affordable apartments and compare rent increase?
- What protections exist if a landlord threatens deportation to a tenant?
- Do temporary foreign workers whose housing is tied to their employer have the same right to maintain occupancy as housing resident tenants?

Some questions need case-by-case follow-up, but one thing is clear: knowing your rights changes everything. Attendees left encouraged to connect with local community housing resources.

If you missed this workshop, stay tuned at the next assembly! by @projetgenese

🏠 On July 1, alongside tenants, community organizations, and allies, Project Genesis was proud to take part in this mobilization to speak out against the housing crisis affecting thousands of people.

The day was filled with solidarity, collective action, and a shared commitment to building a housing system that puts people before profit.

Our demands remain clear:
1. Real rent control in Quebec

2. The large-scale development of social housing

3. The recognition of the right to housing in the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms

The march may be over, but the fight for housing justice continues. ✊🏽 by @projetgenese
