Shoutout to my brother Kwik2. One of my teachers and crewmates. Super nasty. An inspiration on and off the floor.

Footage from 2002.

Another year, another max deadlift. Added 15 lbs to get to 380. Probably could have gone up to 385 if I had gone straight to it, judging by my extension attempting 390.

All good. Plenty of meat on the bone for next time. Shout out to @fabi.bouthillette for being a great workout partner and pushing me. by @prolix39

This one hurts.

As an 80s kid, deregulated cartoons washed over my childhood in an effort to sell toys. But one character shone through the deluge thanks to the performance of Peter Cullen.

The kindness, strength and integrity of a big red robot truck endured. My imagination was captured, but my ideals were inspired too.

Peter Cullen often told the story of basing the voice of Optimus Prime on his brother, Larry, a veteran. His brother told him not to portray a fake hero. But to be strong enough to be gentle. And he was.

Writers over the years expounded on the matrix bearer. The Last Prime. Who lead from the front and believed that freedom is the right of all sentient beings. Who bore the mantle of responsibility. Who was ready to, and did, sacrifice himself for those in his charge. It went beyond the screen and page.

The success of that performance transformed a prolific voice actor into an icon. Every time he made a convention appearance, the man understood his impact. He showed genuine grace for the adoration he recieved. And carried his ideals as a role model to generations. Just like the role.

Two years ago I paid for a ticket at a convention to meet Mr. Cullen. To get a picture and an autograph-- something I have never done before. And hoped to get a chance to say thank you to a childhood hero. But his appearance was canceled. And I was refunded.

The con hasn't been back in town since. And I never got to meet the man because now he's gone. But I still hear his voice in all those comic panels. I hear it when I see those smokestacks on his shoulders. And I can feel it behind the metal faceplate.

Thank you, Peter Cullen. You will still be with us all.

Virginia’s PROLIX (@prolix39) — 3hree 9ines — has been breaking for almost 25 years and shares his perspective on bridging gaps between old and new generations.

Five minutes into the conversation and I had to stop it to clip this part. I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the episode.

Shout out to @bboynative / @talkaboutbreaking for documenting and sharing these important conversations in his channel — Talk About Breaking.
