Alisa Tongg on the Power of Kindness

When Alisa (@alisatongg / @promiseridge) designs a ceremony, she looks for the moments that reveal who people really are. The small, everyday kindnesses that say more than grand gestures ever could.

In this clip, she shares how kindness became the foundation of her work, inspired by an article she once read and the philosophy of aloha she grew up with in Hawaii. Both speak to living with respect, care, and compassion for others, and letting that ripple through everything we do.

There are moments in this work that are sacred to witness. Adam making promises, in his own words, not only to his bride, Stephanie, but to her daughter, Charliee. When children are part of a wedding ceremony, I believe the promises should flow in one direction: from the adult to the child. Nothing is asked of them in return. They simply get to receive the promises being made to them. What a privilege to stand this close to the tender ways a family becomes a family.

We’re bringing back our Wreath Making Workshop for the ninth time!

Join us at Promise Ridge for one of our favorite traditions of the year: an afternoon of making something beautiful for the season, whether it’s destined for your own front door or given as a gift, while enjoying the creative company of some truly exceptional lovelies. Bring a friend and make an afternoon of it together!

This year’s workshop will be led by Sarah Petryk of Allium Floral Design, who will guide us through creating a gorgeous fresh wreath to take home. And Renee Dee Photography will be joining us as our event photographer to capture all the beauty and merriment.

Sunday, November 29 | Promise Ridge
Thanksgiving weekend, 12–3pm

The workshop and all supplies are $150 per wreath, and you’ll leave with something beautiful to fill your heart with joy every time you walk past it this winter.

We’ll be set up outside on the Infinity Deck and in the Pavilion, so pull out your cutest weather-appropriate outfit and fingerless gloves. We’re preparing to psych our psyche with hygge this winter.

This event sells out every year and space is limited. The Promise Ridge address will be shared with paid attendees.

To reserve your spot, send me (Alisa) a DM with your email address and the number of wreaths you’d like to make. I’ll reply with payment instructions. Your spot is confirmed only once payment has been received, so please don’t wait to pay once you receive the details.
