One month since @andy.swimming Andy Donaldson’s record-breaking swim, 55km along the Ord River. Invited by Ben Broady to run swim clinics and inspire people to swim ahead of the town’s new pool reopening after being closed for two years, he decided to do the Dam to Dam Challenge to shine a light on Kununurra. That light was bright!
These PR results speak for themselves. Massive reach across the world with 4 x the population of Australia reading, listening or watching Andy’s story.
As far as media reach goes, this is the biggest story to ever come out of Kununurra (according to Claude and ChatGPT).
This is just the beginning, the ripple effect of global publicity continues. Exciting things are happening.

Meet Dianne Bortoletto, PR Consultant and Publicist at Pronto PR!

Dianne, or Di as she prefers, established Pronto PR in 2010 because she wanted to be hands-on with clients, rather than managing staff.

Her motorsport client list includes Tarmac West, a 4-day rally event in Perth, Western Australia, Forrest Rally, a round of the Australian Rally Championship, and previous clients include Australasian Safari, Rally WA (WA State Rally Championship), Targa South West and a four-time Dakar competitor.

Her first PR job was in the late 90s at the agency managing the Orange Arrows F1 account. As a junior, she successfully pitched Jos Verstappen and his F1 show car to appear on the UK’s biggest show at the time, They Think It’s All Over, which boasted 13 million viewers!

Di loves the variety of her work, and enjoys working on both sides of the media fence as a PR and as a freelance journalist. She also hosts a weekly F1 and travel podcast, @awaywegopodcast, where she mixes her passions for Formula 1 and travel!

According to Di, there are roles for all sorts of people, so if working in motorsports is something you’d like to do, back yourself and go for it. Her mantra is ‘if you don’t ask, you don’t get’.

T H E R A P Y. That’s exactly what going to Kununurra is, a big, magical, healthy dose of therapeutic grounding.
Like a calling, I make it my mission to help everyone fall in love with this special place. It’s pretty easy, all I have to do is get them on the water.
When it comes to visiting artists, musicians and crew for the Kimberley Moon Experience, it’s finding the right window of time and then convincing, persuading and negotiating with several people that doing this is a good idea and a worthy investment. Our team at the Muster were great, they found a time that worked and invited the artists and their crew. @triple_j_tours were on board straight away and put on a special private tour at cost to fit within the schedule, even bringing OG Jeff out of retirement again to host. And Tourism WA helped pay for it.

Everyone said yes. All artists, musicians and crew: @tinaarena @boyandbear @budjerah Phones were out capturing the ancient landscape as we cruised along the Ord River, the life force of Kununurra.
I hope they tell everyone what an awesome place the East Kimberley is.
I truly believe it’s so, so important for Kununurra and the event that our wonderful artists leave loving the East Kimberley. They give us so much with their performances, it feels right to return the favour.

Most of all, I hope they all felt the Kimberley magic and hold on to that big dose of therapy 🧡🙏🧡

Looking at the social posts, I reckon I can say, mission accomplished.

The most successful campaign in my 27-year career in terms of media coverage results. And I’m still collating coverage.
350+ media articles posted with a combined monthly audience of 105 BILLION website visitors, 12.9 Billion unique visitors with 110.5 million people who read the articles.
Andy Donaldson’s record breaking 55km Dam to Dam swim challenge along the Ord River (inhabited by 5,500 crocs) has well and truly put Kununurra on the global map. This swim is set to become a bucket list challenge for open water swimmers around the world.
At the same time, Andy did swim clinics, school talks and visits and even drive some local kids to school in his fancy Porche EV.
Incredible work by Ben Broady who pulled it all together, rallying support from the community who jumped on board to help make it happen.

Thanks to all thr journalists and editors who picked up this story, shining a big, bright light on the stunning East Kimberley region.

It’s peak truffle season. Order yours from @australiantruffle and have it delivered direct to your door, sealed and packed with ice. My favourite way to use truffle at home is on top of creamy scrambled eggs on good bread.
Tip 1: Order from Australian Truffle Traders on a Monday or Tuesday and you’ll have a fresh truffle before the weekend.
Tip 2: add absorbent paper / paper towel to your truffle container and change it every few days – moisture is not friends with truffle
