POSTS STORIES REELS

Tomorrow evening, I have the honour of opening the long-awaited DAY AT THE MARKET® fashion show with @_fashionforhumanity at Riley Smith Theatre, Leeds.

It’s been a long, long journey a year in the making bringing this to life. We even flew to Ghana for this. A whole movie. I’m bringing some questions to the stage and hopefully into your family conversations afterwards.

What if the inheritance wasn’t missing?
What if we were taught not to recognise it?
Our elders deserved more than survival.
But they were more than what they survived.
Before you tell your children where you came from, ask what you were taught to leave out.
They will inherit your family’s history
and your judgement of it.
In memory of all of the matriarchs who came before me and made me 💚
Ticket link in their bio. See you tomorrow. 🖤 by @proofoflifes

8pm THIS evening on @bbcsheffield having a chin wag with @irenekaali_ been holding this in longer than I’ve ever held my tongue 😂

Somehow the BBC have agreed to let me talk for 45 minutes.

Tonight, I’m joining Irene Kaali on BBC Radio Sheffield for a good old chinwag about Black identity, reimagining help and what’s been keeping me busy.

Proper grateful 🖤 8pm. Stick the kettle on by @proofoflifes

Let’s change the narrative on how we treat homelessness in our city. When you think of “helping those in need” do you think of spare change or a Tesco Meal Deal?

Have you ever considered offering a service that could help regulate the nervous systems of those sleeping rough? A free haircut, a conversation, a book to read?

We all have our 7 step self care routines which ground us and help us feel ready for the day, so how can we as citizens of Bradford support the entire community, including those without a roof on their head.

I’ll be sharing some BTS over the next few weeks of what Ethan, a local poet (and plethora of other things) has done to memorialise Stephen Cameron in the City Centre and if you haven’t already, go check out the memorial on Market Street on the door of Barclays Bank 😊

121 Black Hair Stories: bought to you by @momentsbytoby_
@official.remnew #remelsstory by @proofoflifes

Black History Month was an intentional one. We’re proud to present to you: 121® Black Hair Stories bought to you by @momentsbytoby_ - this might be the boldest conversation we’ve cut open yet 👀

For far too long the archive of Black hair has never lived in a museum; it’s been braided in living rooms, pressed in kitchens, shelved in bonnet drawers, and whispered like scripture between salon chairs.

If your scalp can remember, the world should too.
