✂️ About Me From the very beginning, I made it my mission to learn barbering in every way possible. I started by teaching myself on my own hair, on classmates from my music and mechanics courses, and on friends and family. Once I had the basics, I chose to move through different environments on purpose - each one giving me something new to master. I began in a traditional barbershop as an apprentice, where I learnt the discipline of old-school cutting. Then I stepped into a more modern shop in Towcester and moved to be in a more affluent, alternative shop in St Albans/Harpenden, working with creative styles and celebrity clients. My journey took me to London, into the UK’s oldest barbershop, where history and tradition ran deep. I then experienced 3 more local shops and later became manager of one of them. Each move was intentional, each role chosen to give me a new perspective and push my craft further. Teaching became the natural next step. I trained as a barbering educator, was headhunted to lecture at Milton Keynes College, and eventually launched The British School of Barbering. Alongside education, I’ve built businesses from the ground up: from my first venture, The Cutting Shed, to opening Proper Barbers at 25, which grew into Proper Barbers Hair & Beauty, a salon with my fiancé. Today, that vision has expanded into Proper, our lifestyle brand, and our school shaping the next generation of barbers. Outside of barbering, I’ve always pursued creativity and discipline - DJing at local and private events to Ibiza and London, training in martial arts, making music, and keeping active at the gym. Now, I balance my passion for work with time at home, training with my partner, relaxing with my cats, and spending time with friends and family. Every step I’ve taken has been intentional. Proper Beauty is led by Sabrina Sagoo, an award-winning beauty therapist with over 15 years of experience in brows, skin and aesthetics. Her approach is built on individuality and natural results. The British School of Beauty & Barbering turns that expertise into CPD-accredited, hands-on training with real models and real techniques, so graduates are ready for the workplace. Proper Products is our range of hair products, made for the standard we hold ourselves to every day at the chair. Proper ProWear is where the group moves into workwear innovation. Barber Armour was created from a problem we lived every day behind the chair: cut hair getting through clothing and onto the skin. It is purpose-built, hair-resistant professional workwear, designed by a barber for the people doing the job. Service. Education. Product. Innovation. Each business strengthens the others: the salon informs the training, the training builds the industry’s next generation, and the industry’s real problems shape the products we make.
