European bathroom design. Montecito, Ca

Welcome to Montecito, Ca, where we've created an "old world" European feel. Slate floors, concrete, and authentic Mediterranean tile enrich the natural environment.

Hand-carved cement molding exploded during the Italian Renaissance and subsequent Baroque periods (14th to 18th centuries)

@adidasrunning House concept. Venice Beach, Ca

What if the world's best running community had a home?

A place where architecture, movement, and community come together.

A place to train, recover, create, connect, and belong.

A space that inspires people to keep showing up.

More than a destination.

The heartbeat of the running community.

This is adidas House.

Would you become a member?

Two visions. One historic corner.

Slide 1: Our vision & design
Slide 2: Proposed design > @hqgastropubsantamonica

Too often, we cover history instead of celebrating it.

Rather than wrapping this building in a new facade, I'd restore and expose its original concrete architecture—pairing it with large glass storefronts, warm lighting, creeping vines, and handcrafted tile that brings new life to what already exists.

The best architecture doesn't erase the past. It builds upon it.

Santa Monica has a rich architectural history. Let's preserve its character while creating places people will love for generations.

Which vision do you prefer?

A Timeless Spanish Revival >>

This Santa Monica home, originally built in 1927 and owned by Faustino and Jeanne Garza since 1987, carries a deep sense of history—both in its architecture and in the story of its owners.

The project came to me through a lifelong connection, as Faustino is a family friend I grew up with. From the start, there was a shared understanding that this remodel would be more than just a design update—it would be a reflection of heritage, identity, and legacy.

Faustino’s roots trace back to Weslaco, Texas, with a lineage of European Spanish descent. His family history reaches as far back as the mid-1500s, when the region was part of Nueva España, long before it became the United States. That deep cultural foundation became the guiding force behind the project, influencing not just the aesthetic direction, but the spirit of the space itself.

While the bathroom presented challenges with limited space and natural light, the design focused on simplicity, flow, and authenticity. Thoughtful interventions—like the addition of skylights and the use of traditional materials—allowed the space to feel open, warm, and grounded in its origins.

Ultimately, this remodel is less about transformation and more about honoring a story—one that connects past and present, architecture, and ancestry.

- Completed October 2024
