/NL/ Voor de tweede provincie gaan we richting kust. In West-Vlaanderen willen we twee projecten aan jullie voorstellen die een hoop volk op de been brengen.

Bij Proper Strand Lopers lopen vrijwilligers dagelijks de kustlijn af om het afval op te ruimen dat is aangespoeld of door dagjestoeristen is achtergelaten. Met Retro Expo willen ze de badgasten sensibiliseren. In Oostende maken ze een tentoonstelling met oud afval om heel concreet te tonen hoe lang ons afval in de natuur blijft slingeren.

BeOes is dan weer een jong voedselbos in Torhout. Een enthousiast team wil in de minst beboste provincie van het land tonen dat landbouw ook op een andere manier kan. Zonder roofbouw te plegen op de natuur.

/FR/ Pour la 2e province, on met le cap sur la côte. En Flandre occidentale, on vous présente deux projets qui mobilisent beaucoup de monde.

Les bénévoles de Proper Strand Lopers parcourent quotidiennement le littoral pour ramasser les déchets échoués ou laissés par les touristes d’un jour. Avec « Retro Expo », il·elles sensibilisent les baigneur·euses à cette problématique. À Ostende, il·elles organisent une exposition à partir de déchets anciens afin de montrer très concrètement combien de temps nos déchets restent dans la nature.

BeOes, quant à elle, est une jeune forêt comestible située à Torhout. Une équipe enthousiaste souhaite démontrer, dans la province la moins boisée du pays, qu’il est possible de pratiquer l’agriculture autrement. Sans surexploiter la nature.

JUNE RESULTS!

June was a another warm and wet month with a record of 7 tropical days.

There was a total of 181 registrated cleanups (>5 per day), with volunteers participating 715 times (23 volunteers per day).

Overview of the volumes from the different regions:
- Belgian coast: 8.197 liters on beaches and dunes, total of 9.707 liters in coastal municipalities – 163 actions
- Inland: 2.345 liters – 16 actions

Our 10 year jubilee was the most beautiful night, with a stunning sunset surrounded by about 50 of the very best souls.

Friends, volunteers, and supporters—the people who have supported and contributed to #properstrandlopers over the last 10 years. A gentle sea of people seeing each other again and sharing their stories.

#beachheroes from the very beginning or who joined us later. Kids from back then who have since grown into young adolescents.

Yes, and amidst the partying, we dus a cleanup. About 240 liters of #beachwaste added, just a breath away from a million ❤️

Our summer project #destrandhelden2026 is being built!

This will be our 9th year at this location in @visitoostende

Here we take action to prevent beach rubbish ending up in the ocean.
The most impact we have by preventing litter from happening by #raisingawareness among beach visitors.

Join us this summer our location at Zeeheldenplein at the beach.

Help us during a beach cleanup from 7:30 to 8:30 pm or visit our exposition about retro packages and interesting finds!
