They Were With Us, But They Are No Longer of Us

Dear beloved in Christ,

There are times in our journey of faith when those who once stood beside us, who prayed with us, worshipped with us, and called themselves followers of Christ, turn away and embrace other beliefs, other religions, other spirits. They were with us, but they are no longer of us. Their hearts have drifted from the truth, and their allegiance has shifted from the living God to things that cannot save.

This can shake you. It can make you question, it can bring sorrow, it can even make you hesitant to stand firm in your own calling. But this is not new. The Apostle John warned us: _“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us”_ (1 John 2:19).

The rise of false prophets and deceiving spirits was foretold. Jesus Himself said, _“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves”_ (Matthew 7:15). And the Word commands us, _“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world”_ (1 John 4:1). We are not called to test people’s outward appearance or titles, but to test the spirit behind what they teach and what they follow.

Do not let their departure weaken your faith or dim your light. The truth of Christ does not change because others have abandoned it. Our foundation is not built on people, but on Christ the Cornerstone — and He remains unshaken.

So stay rooted. Stay watchful. Stay true. Hold fast to what is good, and hold fast to Him. _“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up”_ (Galatians 6:9). Your calling is real, and your place in Him still stands.

The Lord knows those who are His. And those who are His will remain.

Opinions are temporary, but God’s word is permanent.

Too many of us spend our days carrying the weight of what other people say we are. Their labels. Their opinions. Their doubts. And slowly, we start to believe it — forgetting that the only voice that truly defines you is the one that spoke you into existence.

God doesn’t see you through the lens of your past mistakes, your delays, or what people think you’ll never achieve. He sees you as chosen, loved, capable, and called. While people’s words shift with seasons and circumstances, His word stands firm. Forever.

So today, let go of the titles people tried to place on you that were never yours to carry. Hold onto His truth instead. Walk in the identity He’s already spoken over your life, your work, your calling. You are not what the industry says. You are not what your setbacks say. You are who God says you are — and that is enough.

Keep building. Keep creating. Keep moving forward. The promise isn’t dependent on their approval. It’s dependent on Him.

Matthew 24:35

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
