We are excited to share an exciting event from our friends at @proplayerfoundation!

On Thursday, November 5, Pro Player Foundation will bring its 12th Meet & Greet + rEECh on the Road Panel to Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Pro Football Hall of Fame member Earl Campbell will serve as Host welcoming members of the multiple sclerosis community and their care partners for an evening centered around connection, conversation, and community.

Pro Player Foundation Ambassador and Co-Host Tyler Campbell (@tcspeaks32) will lead his 12th rEECh on the Road Panel, a pillar of the Educate.Elevate.Collaborate. Initiative. Joining Tyler on the rEECh on the Road Panel will be renowned Vanderbilt MS specialists Dr. Olivia Gruder and Dr. Harold Moses Jr., who will share their knowledge, perspectives, and insights to empower those living with multiple sclerosis, as well as the people who support them.

Did you know? As football season kicks off, we want to shine Friday Night Lights on our Pro Player Ambassador and bestselling author Tyler Campbell. He was the first college football player diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis to compete in D1 athletics. In 2007, Tyler received his MS diagnosis while playing at San Diego State University. The news ended his NFL dreams of following in his father’s footsteps. His response: “When one door closes, another opens.” Today he’s a leading MS advocate, husband, father, speaker, radio host, and bestselling author. Did You Know? According to the National MS Society, a single 20-minute session of aerobic walking may improve connections between brain areas involved in cognition for people living with MS. In a small study of 24 people with MS, both treadmill and outdoor walking increased connectivity in the thalamus, a brain region associated with cognition. These findings add to growing evidence that regular physical activity can support brain health and provide meaningful benefits for people living with MS. #DidYouKnow

As the big game kicks off this season, make sure you are prepared with your MS Gameplan! Long days of watching sports can bring fatigue, dehydration, heat exposure, and other challenges that may impact MS symptoms.

Stay Hydrated: Keep water nearby throughout the game and drink regularly to help prevent dehydration, especially if you are outdoors or enjoying salty game-day foods.
Watch the Heat: If you are watching the game outside, seek shade, use cooling towels or fans, and take breaks from the heat, as increased body temperature can temporarily worsen MS symptoms for some people.
Pace Yourself: Give yourself time to rest throughout the game and don’t feel pressured to stay on your feet or participate in every activity. Listening to your body can help prevent fatigue from taking over.
Choose Game-Day Foods Wisely: Enjoy your favorite game-day foods while incorporating balanced options such as fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to support overall health and energy.
Plan Ahead: Know where you can sit, rest, access the restroom, or find a quieter area if needed. Bring any medications, mobility aids, cooling gear, snacks, or other items that help you manage your MS.

Real Lyfe Reel Talk: Self Advocacy is the doorway of opportunity that the Lord told me to walk thru. All glory goes to him for surrounding me with so many great people along the way. What people don’t know is that my wife @hisword_keptme has been there from the very beginning. She showed me how to love and what is possible through a love shared between us. I am because of who she is. @proplayerfoundation has taken me to places I never fathomed, it’s easy to use your gift when there is a team that puts you in a SAFE position share what God gave you. Yes, I’ve picked up many bruises and scars on this MS journey. Your voice matters and never allow yourself to be in a position where it is silenced. @damianwashington thank you for continuing to create spaces for the MS community, I have learned so much from you over the years. Thank you for continuing to push for more spaces in the MS community.

Did you know? Identical twin sisters Laviai and Lina Nielsen both won Olympic bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Games in the women’s 4x400m relay after running on the same relay team, while managing multiple sclerosis (MS). Lina was diagnosed with MS at age 17 and Laviai received her diagnosis in the summer of 2021, just weeks before her Olympic debut in Tokyo. Despite the challenges of fatigue, relapses, and the demands of elite training, the sisters have continued to compete at the highest level. Their Paris success included bronze in the women’s 4x400m (setting a new British record) and another bronze for Laviai in the mixed relay. 🥉🏆
