‘The basic elements of tennis are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature.’ This is what Andre Agassi wrote in the pages of his book, Open.

In tennis, every point represents a problem to be solved. An unexpected trajectory, an opponent capable of putting you in difficulty, a match that takes a different turn than imagined. Playing tennis, then, involves reading what unfolds and within a blink, providing a response. Knowing that there is not a single correct solution. It is perhaps for this reason that Vicente Muñoz, just like Agassi, considers tennis one of the most fitting analogies of life itself.

The same attitude seems to run through @proshop_nyc, the project Vicente carefully built in New York questioning what was lacking in the contemporary tennis scene. A concept store, certainly. Rather a space that served as a creative studio, cultural platform and meeting place. A tennis observatory and laboratory through which discover the lesser-known codes and objects of the racquets’ sport.

Link in bio or visit athletamag.com to find out how Vicente, first a player, then a student, and ultimately an archivist, continually tries to expand the perimeter of the court.
