This van has a much larger water tank, but when I want to stay off grid for longer stretches I always keep extra on hand. I have been trying to switch away from plastic packaging where I can, which is one reason I keep Proud Source Water in the fridge.

Unloading and loading the vans always feels daunting at first but I shouldn’t have to do ot again for quite awhile.

Surviving winter living in my van
It is just not the same as summer. Here are a few changes I make when the weather gets cold 👇
@proudsourcewater #ad

1. Winter clothes are bulky so I have less clothing which is tricky when you’re driving through 4 different climates.
2. Drain all water! It’s easy for the pipes to crack unless they are bone dry but I can’t always find potable water to refill my bottles. My solution is drinking Proud Source Water because with the recyclable bottles and cans I don’t have to worry about microplastics. The more time I spend outdoors the harder it is to ignore the negative impact my everyday choices can make.
3. Blankets and more blankets. They help keep down my propane usage if I don’t have to heat the van as much.
4. A mini-fridge in a less insulated environment, tends to freeze everything during winter and in the summer it’s harder to keep the fridge cold enough. Nobody warned me about that.
5. I have a cassette toilet, so it’s easy to freeze. I don’t need to flush with antifreeze every time, but you do need to give it a periodic rinse.

I personally got the van in order to follow the weather and escape winters. But when I want to be home for the holidays, I can never fully escape the winter weather.

Some people say all water tastes the same, but our inbox says otherwise. 💌

We love hearing from our community, and these voicemails say it better than we ever could.

Our founding spring in Mackay, Idaho has long been known by locals as something special. There’s a saying around town: “Once you’ve tasted the water in Mackay, you’ll never leave.”

Filtered naturally through layers of ancient rock, Proud Source picks up naturally occurring minerals and electrolytes that give it that crisp, clean taste people keep calling in about. 💧 by @proudsourcewater

The plastic crisis is urgent and real.

Did you know up to 11 million tons of plastic enter the ocean every year? That’s the equivalent of one garbage truck per minute, every day of the year.

Some of the most common items found during ocean cleanups are plastic bottles and caps. These break down into microplastics that can damage marine habitats and be eaten by or entangle wildlife. While we’re on a mission to end single-use plastic, we know there’s still work to be done.

This holiday season, your purchase can make a measurable difference. Through December 28, Proud Source Water is BOGO 50% off on proudsourcewater.com. For every case purchased, we pledge to remove one pound of trash from the ocean through our incredible partner @4ocean.

4ocean is leading the fight against pollution with full-time crews removing plastic from oceans, rivers, and vulnerable coastal ecosystems year-round.

Together, small choices add up to a cleaner ocean. 💙 by @proudsourcewater
