The Fox Float X2 has always been a favorite shock of mine. It’s been really enjoyable on the Stumpjumper.

Riding it back to back with Genie the other day was impressive. X2 is flawlessly controlled, smooth, and solid but the three volume bands to produce the right force at the end stroke means the shock firms early in the travel. Genie does exactly what it’s advertised to do, using more travel in the first 70% of the stroke resulting in a more compliant feel.

Verdict 👉 run the Genie on your Stumpjumper or Levo.

Adding weight for better suspension performance is popular topic especially in the gravity side of the sport. After getting excited on FB Marketplace and buying a set of Diabolus cranks I slapped them on the Stumpjumper to see if the extra weight made the bike more planted in the rough stuff.

Verdict 👉 No difference descending but the bike felt easier to pedal. That’s not how I expected to feel the weight.

What do you think? Did I miss something?
