Our tree is gone. They cut it down yesterday before it rained the rest of the day. This morning the ground out the stump. Now we wait for a new tree which isn’t scheduled until spring of 2028. I like our boulevard trees. It will be weird without it. by @prrpots

Two sides of the same tree. Autumn is trying to push summer out of the way, but summer is stubbornly sticking around, and threatening temps in the 80s(F) this weekend. Go away summer. You had your turn. I want crisp weather and colorful trees. #mapletree by @prrpots

One year ago, I put 6 little acorns in three pots of soil and hoped for the best. Now I have six baby oak trees.

My house smells like pvc solvent, but our plumbing issue is fixed. Removing old, rusty cast iron and replacing it with smooth, new pvc should keep things flowing smoothly.

Meanwhile, @rayzdg gave me a couple of sponge holders. One is in the kitchen. The other is in the basement with the big grout/cleanup sponge. They are hysterical. I can’t stop laughing when I look at them. by @prrpots

Two score and 10 years ago, my family celebrated the United States 200th birthday. I don't remember it. I was only 1 1/2.
.
CORRECTION: I was 2 1/2 for the US Bicentennial. The photo was taken one year earlier (1975) for the Centennial of Clear Lake, WI. Math is hard and time is wibbly, but the rest of my thoughts still stand.
.
50 years later, I'm struggling with today's celebration. Our country seems more divided than ever. Our "unalienable Rights" increasing seem to be limited to the white and wealthy. It makes me sad.
.
But a certain plushy dragon living in Germany reminded me in his post today, "America has shown the world many great examples of courage, hope, innovation, and friendship. Like every country, it is not perfect. But birthdays are a good time to celebrate what is good and to remember what we can all do better." - Filippo Draig

With that in mind, I wish you all a Happy Independence Day. May we each seek to make our country (and the world) a better place, one person at a time. Embrace kindness and learn from those who are different. We can do better, together.
