“Now more than ever, audiences are seeking authentic experiences and a sense of community and belonging in our increasingly digital world. Museums as informal sites of learning are uniquely positioned to address this need. From presenting awe-inspiring exhibitions and programming, to providing opportunities to engage in visual literacy in our era of fake news, museums fill a critical role—despite the overall decrease in federal, state, and local funding. How can museums navigate this ever-changing world, continue to do more with less, and fulfill their missions in new and unexpected ways?”

I know some of you just returned from that absolutely mad affair in the desert, so we've arranged a proper little decompression.

Bite Me returns upstairs above the Catalyst Club in downtown Santa Cruz this Second Friday with deathrock karaoke, goth makeovers, artists, a clothing swap, complimentary pizza, and a dance floor full of delightful degenerates.

Our headlining DJ is Iron Fist of Death Guild, one of the brilliant fiends behind Thunderdome, one of our most beloved spectacles on the playa. Joining him is our live multimedia act, Konceptualizer, the welcome return of our beloved friend The Barbary Ghost behind the decks, support from Big Fun, and our resident SamSonic.

Expect industrial, goth, techno, punk, deathrock, and enough wicked rhythms to keep the creatures of the night well occupied.

My big news: I’ll be participating in the inaugural edition of Further, the Bay Area Triennial, in 2027 with the support of and concurrent exhibition at @santacruzmah. I’ll be retyping Tom Wolfe’s Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, and multiple volumes of Beat and SF Renaissance poets, in locations across the Bay Area.
