A 1950s icon, revived in high style.

On The Rocks is an original Hugh Kaptur and one of the finest examples of modern hillside architecture in Palm Springs. Set high in the historic Mesa, with an infinity pool, 3 primary suites, and views of the entire valley.

“Bang Bang” 🎶

Meet the Love Shack, the colorful casita we added when we renovated On The Rocks, a Hugh Kaptur orginal in Palm Springs, reimagined by @freehandstudio_la. Yes, it’s named after the B-52s song.

In the main house, we kept the palette neutral so the desert views and mid-century architecture could take center stage. The Love Shack is where we let loose with color and dared to be fun. A vintage red and orange Moroccan rug even inspired the shower tiles.

Like the main house, the wall behind the bed is the art moment. We commissioned two San Francisco muralists (tagged in image 1) to paint the B-52s’ “Love Shack” imagery and lyrics across it.

Tucked into a desert oasis below the main house sits a vintage Airstream. Our Palm Springs campsite trades the modern lines and cool blue pool for palm shade and firelight. Add something different to your stay — an afternoon hideout, s’mores at the fire pit, or a bartender we’ll arrange just for you (or perhaps for two?) — and disappear into this hidden desert enclave.
