Never forget that YOU have the power to effect change! While we encourage a comprehensive boycott of all Israeli companies and companies that have direct involvement in activities that support Israeli occupation and Apartheid or violate Palestinian rights, we recognize the need for a focused and effective strategy in South Africa.

To maximize impact, we advocate for everyone to adhere to a single targeted boycott list at a minimum. This approach ensures that efforts are concentrated on specific companies known for their direct involvement in supporting Israeli apartheid policies that violate Palestinian rights.

To this end, we have updated our targeted boycott list for South Africa and have categorised these into 3 tiers, Tier 1 being the SA BDS Coalition Targeted Boycotts, Tier 2 being Other targeted brands that have displayed explicit support for Israeli Apartheid & Tier 3 being Encouraged Boycott Beyond The Targeted Boycott.

For those who wish to deepen their commitment to boycotts and go beyond the targeted approach, we encourage using the No! Thanks app, which can be used to identify international brands to boycott and the reasons for boycott. by @psa_yl

From the children of Soweto to the children of Gaza 🇿🇦🪁🇵🇸

Every child deserves the right to play.
The right to learn.
The right to dream.
The right to grow up in safety and dignity.

May every kite carry a message of hope, freedom and a future where every child can simply be a child. 🪁❤️

On September 6th, PSA hosted the first of the Making Sense: Local Government Elections Workshops.

The workshop covered Local Government 101: what is a ward councillor, what are their duties, how do we hold them accountable, what ways can we support progressive local councillor candidates etc.

There was also robust discussion around the false narrative of having to choose between compassion and efficiency. Ideology matters in governance. It's the difference in understanding class issues and equity vs. governing for profit.

We must develop the capacity of our communities to organise by addressing the most dire needs so that we can all participate in our democracy.

We must support those in our communities who have been doing the ground work and have now raised their hands to represent us in decision making rooms.

We must discuss and develop our mandate that will be given to those who take on the responsibility of fighting for justice and dignity.

We'll be sharing the details of the next workshop soon!

Watch this space. by @psa_yl
