✈️ WARBIRD WEDNESDAY ✈️

Meet the Bell XFL-1 Airabonita, an experimental carrier-based interceptor developed for the U.S. Navy in the late 1930s.

Closely related to the Army Air Corps’ P-39 Airacobra, the Airabonita was modified for naval operations with a traditional tailwheel undercarriage. Despite its innovative design, only one prototype was ever built, making it a fascinating “what might have been” in aviation history.

Watch the full episode at the link in our bio.

Would you have liked to see the Airabonita take to the skies from a Navy carrier? Let us know below! 👇 by @psairmuseum
