They even get the race pics to you quicker in Europe! Everything about my experience running the @grantrailcourmayeurultra was perfect. Best of all I earned my PAX bib and will be applying for @tordesgeants the very SECOND they open pre registration to secure my spot. No lottery, no disappointment, no years of waiting. taken in Courmayeur by @psilly_runner

21 hours and 49 minutes of you and me time with Monte Bianco running the GTC 100. Letting go of my dream to run @hardrock100run was the best decision for my happiness in trail running. A shift of goals from HR100 to TOR330 lead me to signing up for @grantrailcourmayeurultra to qualify for direct registration for @tordesgeants No more annual feeling of disappointment every December as I watched people who never volunteered at Hardrock, never came to train in Silverton and never supported the beautiful San Juan mountain communities get into the run with 1-4 tickets. No more being forced to run 100 milers I have no interest in just to qualify for a lottery, not a run. I don’t mean to sound bitter, but I dedicated 6 years and thousand and thousands of dollars hoping to toe the line in Silverton and it never came to fruition. I’m not bashing the run or the people who make those decisions. That’s the way they’ve always done it and I knew the odds when I started. What I am doing is maybe encouraging others to take a look around at what else may be calling to you. My adventure around Courmayeur was a spectacle I will never forget and I can’t wait to come back for another 330kms around the Aosta Valley in 2027. taken in Courmayeur by @psilly_runner

I had an amazing weekend in the San Juans before I head to Italy this Sunday to run the @grantrailcourmayeurultra 100k and do some recon on the @tordesgeants course. Great to see a few people I know. Sadly @johntsharp wasn’t there, but I still had some good conversations during John Cappis. Body and mind are inline for a good run at GTC, but the weather looks to challenge. Can’t wait to run my first European Mountain Ultra in just 8 days!! taken in Silverton, Colorado by @psilly_runner

Ran the SLC Foothills 50k present by @pathprojects a week and a half ago! We had lots of rain and mud to play in. Great local event and I ran a race that I’m very happy with! I took in 3-4x more electrolytes than normal and averaged somewhere around 80g of carbs per hour (mostly maple syrup and maybe a flask worth of coke). Another big goal was to minimize stopping time. Garmin says I was only stopped for 3 minutes and 22 seconds over 5 hours and 51 minutes total race time. All in all this was great practice for my more difficult runs I have lined up. The John Cappis 50k is next. I’ll have 19-20 hours to run 50k(ish) with 19,000ft of vert between 9,000-13,000ft. @grantrailcourmayeurultra is 2 weeks later. 100k with 23,000ft of climbing around courmayeur all with the goal of returning next year for @tordesgeants . Lastly I’m running the @ouray100 50 miler in August. 24,000ft in just 50 miles back in the San Juans. I hope I can use what I practiced at SLC 50k to finish each of these 3 races in good condition and having enjoyed my time on course. by @psilly_runner

Happy 2nd birthday to the sweetest and awesomest little adventure buddy I could’ve ever asked for!! Here a big ol batch of recent photos from our trip to Chilliwack/Vancouver/Whidbey Island. She did a lot of trail running out there and couldn’t get enough. She still likes being in the pack, but not for long! by @psilly_runner

My 5th year at @hardrock100run and another year of unforgettable stories. I paced @johntsharp from Ouray and we spent over 16 hours sharing stories and enjoying the San Juans. After we made it to Chapman the elevation had taken its toll on John and he decided to call it a day. So proud of him for the effort and pushing himself the way he did. After he found a ride to Silverton I was given the green light to run on course back to Silverton from Chapman. I’d never been past Grant Swamp Pass so it was all new and all in the dark. That thin single track headed to KT looks pretty intimidating in the night. One wrong move and bye bye. After KT you must get your feet wet again before a very punchy climb. On the way up Putnam I kept getting lost trying to find the faint path straight up. I had already been awake for nearly 48 hours and started hallucinating and falling asleep while running down from Putnam. But now I know what waits for me between Chapman and Silverton for when my day comes to finally run Hardrock. Crazy steeps, water crossings, more exposure and the greatest aid station volunteers you could ask for. After nearly 17 hours and 26 miles with John I ran the last 18 miles in under 8 hours. Running qualifiers is only step one in being ready for Hardrock. After 5 years attending the run I finally feel like I’m really ready for my full loop whenever it’s ready for me. Congrats to every runner that toed the line and prayers for the family of the runner who past. by @psilly_runner

2023 is coming to a close and looking back has me wondering “How?” I started the year by tearing my ACL, cartilage and meniscus skiing. Definitely thought my year was over before it began, but I told the doctors “fuck that” and went running. I tackled a hot and miserable 100 miles in 26 hours back in April. I enjoyed a casual 14 hour 50 miler through the San Juans in June. I even ran the current @fatdog120 course in 37 hours to end my year with a new distance (127 miles) and vert (27,000ft) PR back in August. All in all I ran 2,200 miles and 470,00ft of vert after being told I needed surgery or trail running would be impossible. Never mind 100 milers and ultras in general. Thank you to my beautiful wife @quitassumingmytattoos for supporting all my crazy goals this year!! I can’t wait to have her and Tove at more races in 2024 as I start to look forward ❤️❤️❤️ #fatdog #salomon #keephammering by @psilly_runner

Utah in September is one of my all time favorite things in this world. This year I won’t be recovering from surgery while everyone else is out exploring. I’ll be out chasing summits and capturing the best seasons epicness before my little girl is born in November!! Then we’ll have a nice holiday season celebrating our little one #timpanogos #narpseverywhere #letsstandonaridgeat11kfeetwhilelightingiscoming #mountainrunning #utmb #keephammering #salomonrunning #lekitrailrunning #anetikperformance by @psilly_runner
