Initiated our canoe last weekend with a group trip to Bonnechere Lake in Algonquin Park. Bonnechere was well worth the effort (20km and 3 portages), offering a great site, loons, beavers, songbirds, great swimming, a brief but intense thunderstorm, and, of course, great company! We were also lucky enough for our start to coincide with the Rangers group from @campponacka - great to see the kiddos in the wild! taken in Algonquin Provincial Park by @pskafel

First ever ice out canoe trip last weekend. Great conditions and a successful mission to find some hungry brook trout. Paddled in from Achray Grand>Stratton>ran a swift into St.Andrew>Marie>Length. Still some ice under some boulders, but only 2 mosquitoes. Bunch of loons and a beaver came by to say hi. Good times! taken in Achray Beach by @pskafel

Early Dec trip to the Montagne Noir area with the guys. Great snow, great hut and lean-to, Awesome company. I do like a tromp in the snow. Club de Plein Air de Saint-Donat has five a wonderful job with trails and accommodations. 4.5km in to Refuge Branchu Friday night, up to Refuge Mesangeai for lunch and the brand new Abri Lac en Croix for the -20c night. Not as rugged as the Dacks of course, but a great alternative. taken in Montagne Noire by @pskafel

Finally skied Revelstoke last week! My last 2 years of tree planting (96 & 97) were spent north of the dam, replanting the slopes, distracted by snowy peaks across the valley. It was worth the wait. Great, challenging terrain, 30cm fresh snow 24hrs before arrival, lots of time spent in the glades, powder found, bowls skied. Great time, great company! See you again soon, I hope, Revy! taken in Revelstoke Mountain Resort by @pskafel

Oct 6th - A quick trip to Bryce Canyon National Park. Another junior Ranger badge earned. Not surprisingly, shuttle access only for Inspiration Point in the afternoon, and no takers for a hike, still majestic. taken in Bryce Canyon National Park by @pskafel

Oct 5th - Zion NP - started with a taste of the Narrows, Aaron and I hiked to Scouts Lookout, then up to Emerald Pools. Park was busy but not overrun. Off-season is definitely the way to go. Absolutely beautiful. taken in Zion National Park by @pskafel
