a few years ago, i was fortunate enough to have been invited by @ana.lareina and @juan.raicilla to mexico to collaborate with their brand @drinklareina - a beautiful brand making raicilla, a unique and wonderful, handmade agave spirit, with similarities to mezcal, but produced in its own way, with its own species of agaves. I met them in. Guadalajara brought some shoes to shoot for one of their campaigns did this interview, produced and shot by @fpoire and @_coyotewoman , and then we traveled to the taverna, where the raicilla is produced by a wonderful family, high in the remote, volcanic mountains of central jalisco, mexico. it was a wonderful experience and I’ve since gone back many times to participate in a number of events, from planting agaves, harvesting, mashing and fermenting the agaves, as well as performing music with @oricantiart and providing boots for their ad campaigns! if you’re not familiar with the brand or the spirit, I highly recommend searching it out and giving it a try! #supportsmallbusiness #ionlywearpskaufman #goodyearweltedboots #styleissubversive #votewithyourwallet taken in Jalisco, Mexico by @pskaufman

NaNa was a pioneering punk and goth fashion retailer founded in 1976 in Santa Monica, California by Nancy Kaufman, along with close collaborators Paul Kaufman and Lynn Tyler, that became central to 1980s counterculture style in the U.S. Known especially for its shoes and boots, including early imports of Monkey Boots, Doc Martens, creepers, and skull-buckle boots. NaNa’s helped define the aesthetic of multiple subcultures from punk to post-punk and goth to grunge, becoming a staple in underground fashion and widely sought after by youth who traded mainstream trends for expressive, outsider style.
