There’s something I’ve been quietly working on that means more than I can put into words.

What started as a scuba diving certification in St. Croix became an exploration of fear, resilience, and legacy. A journey beneath the surface, and back to the memories that shaped it all. I’m sharing this now as I prepare to leave for an Art Residency in St. Croix—a destination that feels like the ultimate "Rebirth."

This trailer is a window into a film about my journey through grief and the independence I found while submerged in the ocean.

This is Baby Dolphin.

Thank you to Indy @artscouncilindy
for awarding me the Creative Renewal Grant. Truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to rest and find new inspiration. This is only the beginning.

For over ten years, my work has been defined by the weight of my personal story as an artist. Using the industrial grit of concrete and the visceral texture of tar, I built a foundation as an artist that mirrored the structural integrity of my lineage. But mastery is not found in repetition; it is found in the willingness to intentionally break what you have built to see what lies beneath.

Amor Fati - the love of one's fate is the heartbeat of this new collection. This body of work was born from the "Sacred Break," a journey that took me from the familiar shadows of Indianapolis to the transformative light of St. Croix. Virgin Islands. It was there, amidst the ruins and the tides, that I discovered and learned the history of “Chaney”, the historic shards of porcelain unearthed from the Caribbean soil.

For years, I viewed the 'broken' chapters of my life as debris to be cleared away. But in the silence of my renewal, I discovered the Sovereign Truth, which is the most beautiful part of the story, is the break. It is the evidence of a life actually lived, and the Amor Fati Series has become the architecture of a new beginning. In these fragments, I found a mirror for my own life, proof that something broken is not discarded, but refined.

What a beautiful day and class.

Thank you Dr Leslie K. Etienne director and professor in the Africana Studies at IU Indianapolis.

For having me present a lecture to the A140 Introduction to the African Diaspora class.

We discussed the connection to the enslaved people’s travels to St. Croix, my personal experience discovering "Chaney"( broken porcelain). My travels to St. Croix truly changed my life. When my father died a piece of me died too...but I will continue on my path of healing and happiness through my art and teaching.

The art lesson was...just because something is broken, doesn't make it less valuable or less beautiful. Our flaws in our life or even within ourselves makes us who we are and that should always be celebrated. We are strong & resilient! Art will always connect us and allow these valuable conversations.
