[1994 CCSO-marked Glock 22, 40 S&W w/1996 Leupold Laserlight]
That’s right, Leupold made a laser sight.
Most of the pistol laser sight manufacturers were smaller outfits dedicated to that purpose alone, though there were some established companies who jumped on the latest craze—like Tasco and ofc Leupold in the late-90s. The Laserlight is technically modular, in that you can swap the laser unit onto any other handgun with the appropriate mount. The mounts themselves though… are Loctited to the dust cover of the firearm and the only exception to this is the Glock mount—attaching via the trigger-guard instead.
Leupold alludes to the reason being that the Glock has a polymer frame (and I guess is more prone to flexing), but I think it’s because someone at Leupold thought that maybe permanently gluing the laser mount over the serial number plate is a bad idea lol. It seems the Laserlight was only produced for a very short time, maybe one to two years max. It was introduced in 1996 but by the 1998 catalog, it had disappeared entirely. I suspect many consumers were turned off by the glue thing, and not even the Leupold branding could save it.
Just for fun, I added some of the futuristic highlights from ‘’Cybertracker’’ (1994) since it fits the theme. I tried to get through this one, but it was clear that this was a Terminator/RoboCop clone dumbed down to the lowest common denominator—and ‘’RoboCop 3’’ was REALLY stupid, so that’s saying something. This G17 with Laser Devices BA-2 was the inspiration for my build. There’s also this cool Beretta with LDI sight as well, along with Imatronic LS45-equipped SP-89 and DEagle with Aimpoint laser. If someone made a movie with this aesthetic and weaponry that wasn’t completely unwatchable, it might just be a revolution in cinema. by @pstenebraslux](https://scontent-ord5-1.cdninstagram.com/v/t51.82787-15/848563487_18110881853226989_2745598449743882304_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_s640x640_tt6&_nc_cat=108&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiQ0FST1VTRUxfSVRFTS5iZXN0X2ltYWdlX3VybGdlbi5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=eKCJdPeCVPUQ7kNvwFjNNu8&_nc_oc=Adq1EkKFTCkwITKGeVIJ6TpCpj7N3yx72l-LmVAjiErr-1kPKBUXLsAH3s4pILxIe5IrFkic8fgYWerZ5TrlT1xA&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-ord5-1.cdninstagram.com&_nc_gid=InkmNl1F02NgKEys1GRqpA&_nc_ss=70580&oh=00_AQRIg0H88I1_FWg3cqkDAFeg4bOfnCW68W68SW4z_0ZBPQ&oe=6AF0385D)
