We thank everyone who showed up with smiles and curiosity, especially the many hands and hearts that helped build and make this building and party a reality. Final Project + Exhibition The theme: A Love Letter to Florence Probably coming off the heels of @artistvat Color + Culture class this past spring, I was drawn to the color palette of Florence. Regulated by the city’s art council since the 1860s, when Italy unified and Florence was briefly the capital, the colors are an archive of tradition. Ochre and pale yellows in various buttery shades, sienna, choral, peachy sandstone, vibrant green shutters, some brown, some grey. The palette was distinct and inspired my attention to color for this piece, my love letter to the color of Florence. #colorpalette #firenze by @psupaintdraw

PSU Alumni + Faculty in the museum! Excited to share that our recent alumni Max Kuo @maxkart_ who recently graduated in the BFA Art Practice program in 2025 has their stupendous artwork installation in the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon in Eugene. Also, Art Professor in the Painting + Drawing Area, Taravat Talepasand, will be joining Max as well! How wonderful it is to see faculty and alumni sharing their work together in a museum—proof that our students and faculty truly work together and support each other. Celebrate the Oregon Asian Celebration Art Exhibition with an intimate reception with the artists. End of an era… Goodbye to FMH aka “Oldberger” aka Neuberger Hall, our HOME for our studio art classes since the 1960s. How many art students passed through your studios over these +/-65 years??? Thank you for your years of service to us. We will miss you, but we will still be neighbors! What Remains is all of us. Dear 2026 PSU BFAs 🎓 What a privilege to witness this moment. Over the past year, I watched these artists build ambitious bodies of work, exhibit in a museum, speak publicly about their ideas, support one another, and earn their degrees. Each arrived with a different voice, and each leaves with a stronger sense of who they are as artists. Today was filled with hugs, laughter, happy tears, and far too many selfies. I am so proud of every one of you and grateful for the time we shared together. This is not goodbye. It’s the beginning. Congratulations, Class of 2026. ❤️🌈 by @psupaintdraw

Goodbye to one era. Welcome to another. Today I said goodbye to the old Art Building at Portland State University, a place that held generations of artists, ideas, mistakes, discoveries, and transformation. There is a particular feeling that comes with standing in an emptied studio. The silence somehow makes all the years louder. As I walked into the new building, a painting of a Trans Iranian figure came with me, as it always has. A companion through changing spaces, a reminder that identity, memory, and resistance travel with us. The studios are empty. The walls change. The work continues. Goodbye to an era that held so much. 2026 BFA Oral Review @psu_museum_of_art Congratulations to all 43 BFAs for not only completing and presenting their thesis in a museum, but also for sharing their truths about their practice. ART 499 Oral Review was led by Anna Gray @ryannaprojects who went above and beyond for each student. Anna helped prepare and remind them that being vulnerable is an act of sharing and that nobody else can do that better than the artist themself. by @psupaintdraw
