🍀 🍀 🍀 Miles and miles of bright green bumpy fields, sheeps and cows and everything smelling like seaweed and wet stones. It’s actually a smell ! Dozens of Guinnesses and Bulmers and bacon Taytos and cozy af carpeted pubs. The people we met had an effortless warmth; helpful, hilarious, quick to be curious. Newgrange solstice witch tomb was mystical—primordia, weirdly futuristic too.
Grateful for mommy @nancymonja, wet weather biker-trooper and foul mouth sass. AND, Thank you for always always calling us ‘girls’, Ireland!! by @psychosocialintimatecollection

DNA evidence has just confirmed the man responsible for the 1991 Austin Yogurt Shop murders. Many men and boys were once accused—two teenagers were convicted on highly coerced confessions that never matched physical evidence. One was sentenced to death, the other to life, and both spent nearly a decade in prison before being released. Others were scapegoated as well, from the ‘stoners’ who hung out in the creek behind Northcross Mall, to several Mexican men whose early arrests reflected both the rush to assign blame and racial bias at work.

It can feel sensational to dwell on true crime, but this new HBO documentary stands apart because it shows how interrogation tactics can cross into psychological torture. Strikingly, the more vulnerable, compliant teens were the ones pushed into confessing, while the ringleader figure—later found with a gun and arguably the most narcissistic of the group—walked free simply by holding his ground and asserting a stronger sense of self.

I was 9 years old when this happened—at the very 80s mall just a few miles from my childhood home. The billboard with those four girls was up for decades in Austin, a true haunting. Technology is probably mostly evil, but I’m glad it finally put this case to rest. by @psychosocialintimatecollection
