The moment has finally arrived—time for an overdue introduction!!

HELLO! 👋

I’m Portia, a passionate physiotherapist committed to helping you move better, feel stronger, expand your knowledge, and thrive in your daily life💪 Before you ask….yes, my sport is DANCE! In the words of the great Martha Graham, “Movement never lies” - this has defined the foundation of my work as a physio.

Trained in Melbourne, Australia, and now based back home in Toronto, I take a holistic approach to wellness by integrating my training in Pilates, Manual Therapy, Pre/Post-Operative Rehab, Craniosacral Therapy, Dry Needling/Acupuncture, and Sports Injury Management. My mission is to address not only the symptoms but also to understand their root causes, empowering you to take control of your health and wellness🌱

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, enhancing mobility, or preparing/recovering from surgery, I’m here to provide personalized care tailored to your unique needs.

Feel free to connect with me, or follow along for the journey! Bookings are by appointment only - hope to see you soon🌟 taken in Queen Street West by @pt.thept

Dry needling (or IMS) is a modern treatment technique that uses fine needles to target tight muscles and trigger points to help reduce pain, improve mobility, and support recovery✨

Commonly used in physiotherapy, it can help with neck, elbow, back pain, and more.

Unlike traditional acupuncture, dry needling is based on neurophysiology, anatomy, and musculoskeletal dysfunction rather than traditional Chinese medicine concepts like meridians and Qi.

The Central Blues are proud to announce that Portia Physio, led by the exceptional Portia Tsoi, is back as a Platinum Sponsor for the upcoming season.

This season, Portia is taking her support to another level. She’ll be right there at training, bringing back the player-favourite “Physio in the Park” sessions, and has even laced up during preseason to experience the game’s physical demands first-hand. Her energy matches that of the club: committed, driven, and all-in.

Since joining last year, Portia has made an immediate impact on our playing group. Her hands-on, athlete-first approach, backed by experience with clubs in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, ensures our players get the expert care they need to perform. A proud Carlton Blues supporter, she fits right in and somehow manages to make you laugh while you enjoy the (sometimes painful) challenges of Clinical Pilates.

Based near our new home at College and Bathurst, Portia Physio offers a full suite of services, including injury rehab and prevention, taping, acupuncture, and a standout Clinical Pilates program. It’s a targeted blend of physio, Pilates, and strength training designed to keep athletes strong, resilient, and game-ready.

We’re incredibly grateful for Portia’s ongoing support. Her upgraded partnership reflects a genuine belief in the club and a shared commitment to helping every player reach their potential.

Why do I integrate Clinical Pilates/ Rehab into my physio practice? Easy. Because it builds a stronger, smarter, and more adaptable body for sustainable results.

Instead of reacting in panic, the nervous system learns with every wobble and challenge. The trunk becomes a control centre, the bridge that allows the body to speak the same language.

With controlled variability (foam, ball passes, unilateral work) our body learns, reintegrates, and reorganizes information from these inputs. Stability training is controlled chaos… and we love chaos in rehab!

This is what builds resilience after injury:
a system that can adapt 🌊

It was an honour to meet Her Excellency Kate Logan, High Commissioner of Australia, at the 2025 Australian Alumni Networking Reception🇦🇺📚

Feeling fortunate to connect with alumni from universities across Australia, share stories from our time abroad, and reflect on where our educations have taken us — most of us are still putting them to good use!

Always a fun (and funny) time catching up with @madison_lui & @harriesuren 💙

💪Strong (and stronger) after 30.

Muscle loss starts in your 30s—but strength training can prevent loss, boost metabolism, and keep you feeling energized and strong! Research shows strength training at least twice per week can maintain muscle mass, reduce age-related loss, and improve function.

Anyone can start at anytime. Staying consistent is where we thrive 🌱

‼️Your health comes first - if you have any injuries or health conditions, check in with a healthcare professional before trying new and unfamiliar exercises.

Today I took a moment to reflect on the winding path that brought me here. It’s so easy to forget to celebrate the milestones when you’re right in the thick of it ✨

〰️ Landing my very first physio job through a job fair connection (shoutout to @hartwellphysio — my first work home, mentors & pandemic gym 🏡)

〰️ Dry needling with @findyourflow_physio as each other’s first pin cushions

〰️ Kicking off my Clinical Pilates journey with @unitehealth

〰️ Moving back to Canada and being featured as a Physio Resident with @collegeofptsont

Fast forward to today, I get to play and grow in what feels like a physio playground🪴 I couldn’t be more grateful for every step of the way ☀️

Physiotherapy isn't one-size-fits-all! It can involve active rehab, passive treatments, or a combination of both, depending on your needs and goals.

✅Active Rehab: Exercises, movement retraining, and functional activities to build strength, mobility, and resilience.
✅Passive Treatments: Hands-on techniques, soft tissue work, dry needling, and modalities to reduce pain and improve mobility.

The key? Finding the right balance-starting where you are and progressing toward long-term recovery and prevention.

What works best for you? Let's chat! Find me treating and sharing knowledge at my home-base
