📢 Congratulations to 𝑫𝒓. 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒆 𝑽𝒂𝒏𝑺𝒘𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒏 and 𝑫𝒓. 𝑱𝒆𝒏 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒉 on their new publication in Age and Ageing! 🎉 Their randomized clinical trial of 249 community-dwelling older adults compared standard exercise alone with standard exercise plus motor learning (timing and coordination) components. The study looked at how each approach affects the motor skill of walking. 💡 Key finding: Both programs improved the oxygen cost of walking, and the benefit was still present 24 weeks after the exercise ended. We’re proud of our Department of Physical Therapy faculty for advancing mobility research for older adults. 👏 #PittPT #PittProud #H2P 🔗 Read the abstract: link in bio by @pt_pitt
