Pūatatangi Productions is delighted to announce that it has received He Kauahi – Catalyst Short Film Funding from Te Tumu Whakaata Taonga | New Zealand Film Commission for its next short film, Reretau.

Reretau is co-written by Allie Howell and Pūmanawa Rawiri, directed by Allie Howell, and produced by Angel Kameta.

Pūatatangi Productions is proud to announce its establishment as a dedicated screen production company, co-founded and co-directed by Allie Howell and Angel Kameta.

Building on the success of the creative team’s early projects, including Ata Pūao and Urban Taniwha, Pūatatangi has been established to create bold, Māori-led motion pictures for Aotearoa’s screen industry while providing a formal home for the teams growing slate of takatāpui film productions.

While Pūatatangi and E Kare Collective will continue to collaborate on future projects where appropriate, the two organisations serve distinct purposes. Pūatatangi is dedicated exclusively to screen production, while E Kare Collective continues its evolution as a multidisciplinary arts collective supporting a broader range of creative practices and artists.

As production begins on its inaugural slate, Pūatatangi looks forward to contributing to the future of Aotearoa’s screen industry while continuing to celebrate the takatāpui, iawhiti, and MVPFAFF+ community that made its journey possible.

Mauri Ora.
