Hello, PUBlic family! 👋 We have some incredibly exciting news to share with you about one of our cherished alumni, Chef Darla Shaffer. 🌟

From her humble beginnings as a dishwasher, stepping in when someone didn't show, Darla rapidly ascended through the ranks with a fierce determination and an unquenchable thirst for culinary knowledge. She was an integral part of our family when we opened our doors and even had a special dish, the "Steak Darla", named after her.

After her time with us, her culinary journey took her to Portland, Oregon, where she has become a standout chef at esteemed restaurants like Tusk, Le Pigeon, and now Jacqueline. She's become known for her incredible pastries, pasta, and occasionally focaccia, using the flavors of her childhood and nostalgic touches to create unforgettable dishes. 🍰🍝

Now, we are thrilled to announce that Darla has been selected as a Rising Stars Award Winner for 2023 by @StarChefs! 🏆 She's being recognized for her exceptional culinary talent and her capacity to inspire and support the local Portland community.

But that's not all - Darla is also competing in the 2023 StarChefs Rising Stars Art of Presentation contest! This contest celebrates the creativity and artistry in dish presentation. The winning chef will receive $5,000 toward Steelite International products of their choice.

We need your help, PUBlic Legacy family! We want to rally behind Darla and help her win this amazing opportunity. PUBlic 74 is officially closed for business in San Juan Capistrano. We have enjoyed the past 10 years serving guests in San Juan Capistrano but have made the tough decision to move to a new location in the city of Orange near Angel Stadium. We will be opening in the next few months and are excited to continue to serve our famous PUBlic Speakers, Goat Toast, and many more of your PUBlic favorites. We want to thank everyone who have supported us through the years and can’t wait to see everyone at our new location (more details to come soon)!!
