Before Pulp was formed, nearly 20 years ago, we were admiring the work of @thomfilicia from afar. His fearless point of view, confidence, and ability to create spaces with personality made a huge impression on us as young designers trying to find our own voice.Never in a million years did we think we’d one day be sharing cocktails with him… let alone asking him to write the foreword for our very first book. THE PULP FILES / No. 02The brief was three words: sexy, dramatic, entertaining-forward.Not “update the finishes.” They wanted a kitchen that behaves like a bar at midnight… the room the party ends up in, whether you planned it or not.The bones weren’t the problem. That barrel vault was already there, doing something interesting nobody had answered. The plan was the problem. Fine for one person making coffee, useless the second there are twelve people and a bottle open. So we reconfigured it around the crowd, not the cook.Then we answered the ceiling. Gild across the vault. Deep teal on every face. Calacatta Viola that refuses to behave. Red inside the glass fronts, down the chains, in the sconces… a room this sexy needs a pulse.Swipe for the before, the concept, the preliminary drawing set, and the renderings. They hunted exhaustively for a designer who could match them.This family of artists built their new-construction home on Lake Washington with walls of glass that open the rooms to the water and mountains beyond. Stunning… and only half the story. Our Design Ambassador vignette for Dallas Market Center is a love letter to gathering.We imagined a room that invites people to slow down, pour a cocktail, pull up a chair, and stay awhile. A space where art sparks conversation, a chess board waits for the next move, and every layer reveals something new. Rich jewel tones, sculptural forms, moody patterns, and tactile materials come together to create an atmosphere that feels equal parts sophisticated and playful.Every piece in this vignette was sourced through @dallasmarket, showcasing the incredible breadth of resources available to the design community. We loved the challenge of creating a fully realized space from the market’s offerings while staying true to the fearless, personality-driven approach that defines Pulp.Join us June 22 from 4–6 PM for the unveiling of the first Design Ambassador vignettes by @pulpdesigns and @cocoanddash Interiors.
