If the same meeting drains you every week, why do you keep blaming yourself afterward?

For adults with ADHD, autism or AuDHD, it can help to notice exactly where the friction is.

An agenda beforehand. Time to process a question. The option to contribute in writing.

You don’t have to solve everything at once. Identify one repeated friction point and make one clear request.

What’s one change that would make your workday easier?

You can care about something and still struggle to start it.

For adults with ADHD or AuDHD, that gap can come with a familiar pile of self-criticism: “Why can’t I just do it?”

Try a smaller question: “What’s the first step I can actually take?”

Open the document. Put one dish in the sink. Write the messy sentence.

You don’t have to figure out the whole task before you begin.

What’s something you could shrink the starting line on today? 👇

“You haven’t done much today. Why are you so tired?”

Think about what the task list leaves out.

The lights. The overlapping conversations. The humming vent. The effort of following someone’s words through all of it.

If you have ADHD, are autistic, or are AuDHD, this might sound familiar.

Try asking: “What was I having to tolerate all day?”

Then choose one thing you could adjust—lighting, noise, seating, or somewhere quieter for a break.

Your surroundings are part of the workload. Count them.

What drains you that other people barely notice? 👇

I coach from the inside out.

I was diagnosed at 54. So when someone says, “Wait… that’s why I’ve done that my whole life?” I know the feeling.

I’ve had years of those “ahhh, that’s why” moments—and a lifetime of figuring out practical ways to work with the brain I have.

That doesn’t mean I have your answers. It means I’ll listen, ask honest questions, and challenge you to recognize the patterns that are costing you energy.

If you’re ADHD, autistic, or AuDHD and you’d like to work with someone down to earth, I’m Darin with PulseNorth.

Book a free 15-minute discovery call through the link in my bio. Let’s see if we’re a good fit.

Recognizing the pattern can feel like a breakthrough. Then Tuesday afternoon arrives, and you find yourself doing it again.

That doesn’t mean your insight failed. Change often starts with one choice you can practice: pausing before you say yes, checking what you know against what you’re assuming, or leaving when you need to.

What’s one small choice you’d like to try the next time your pattern shows up?

I’m Darin with PulseNorth. I coach adults navigating ADHD, autism, and AuDHD. You can learn more at pulsenorth.ca.

Understanding your ADHD, autism, or AuDHD can bring relief. It can also bring grief for the years you spent trying to meet expectations without knowing what you needed.
Both feelings can be true. You don’t have to rush past the grief to prove you’re moving forward.
What would you say to the younger you who was trying so hard?

Ever say yes in the moment, then get home and realize you didn’t have the capacity for it?
For some people with ADHD, autism, or AuDHD, it takes time to process a conversation and recognize what they need. That realization might arrive hours later.
You’re allowed to follow up: “I’ve had a chance to think about it, and I can’t take that on.”
Your boundary still counts, even when it arrives late.

“Why am I so tired? I didn’t even do that much.”

Maybe you did more than you could see.

Managing noise. Following conversations. Watching how you come across. Holding back a question. Replaying an interaction on the way home.

For many ADHD, AuDHD, and autistic adults, an ordinary day can take a lot of invisible effort.

Before you judge yourself for needing rest, ask: What was my brain doing all day that nobody could see?

“Listen to your inner voice.”

Okay… which one?

The one saying you’re fine? The one telling you to push through? Or the quieter one you only notice when you’re already overwhelmed?

For many of us, the first clue isn’t a clear thought. It’s realizing we haven’t eaten, our shoulders are tight, or every sound suddenly feels too loud.

You don’t have to get it right every time. Start by noticing one signal a little earlier.
