Hopping on this trend since I’ve realised I never introduced myself properly!! 🤍

Soo, here’s a little more about me and my journey.

If you’re new around here, welcome — I’m very happy you’re here. 🤍 And to everyone who’s been following along, you are appreciated! 🧚🏼 by @pulsewithema

Lately, I’ve been going back to the classical repertoire — and my body is loving it.🫶🏼

I’ll admit I neglected my mat practice a little over the summer. But in my defense…it was summer.🤪

There’s something about the classical work that feels just sooo good for my spine.

And yes, it was definitely time to get back to the mat.🫶🏼 by @pulsewithema

Flow of the week: legs + Pilates ball. 🤍

With most of your body weight on the standing leg, the challenge is keeping it stable as you press the carriage out, without letting the knee drift backwards or sideways.

At the same time, you’re working to keep the hips level and the pelvis controlled while the other leg moves. 🧚🏼

I like changing the springs here depending on what I want from the exercise: a lighter spring gives you more of a balance and control challenge, while a heavier spring gives the moving leg more resistance to work against. But whichever spring you choose, keep the quality of the movement first.🫶🏼

The pilates ball gives the standing leg a little tactile feedback, helping you stay aware of your leg and pelvic position.

Save this for your next session and let me know how it goes. 🫶🏼 by @pulsewithema

Understanding biomechanics gives you a different perspective on Pilates and movement.

And once you understand what’s making an exercise more challenging, you have more options as an instructor.
You feel more freedom and confidence because you can rely on your knowledge, not just simply following a script.

My dear pilates instructors, do you agree?🤍 by @pulsewithema

Stretch of the week: Mermaid🧜‍♀️

If there’s one thing I love about this stretch, it’s how good it feels to move into a side bend and get some movement through the ribs and spine.

A little lateral flexion, a little rotoation and a very good reminder that the spine is meant to move in more than one direction.🫶🏼

Save this for your next reformer session!🤍 by @pulsewithema

Hopping on this trend because apparently we all need a little reminder sometimes.🤪🤍

Usually we focus so much on what we still need to work on that we forget to notice how far we’ve already come!

Which one did you need to hear today?🫶🏼 by @pulsewithema

One of my favourite flows to teach, practise, and play around with because it always brings me back to the present moment.

You have to be so focused on what you’re doing — how you’re moving your body, what needs to stay stable, what you need to control — that everything else kind of disappears for a minute.

Which Pilates exercise does this for you?

*Can be done on a light spring for more of a core and stability challenge, or medium spring if you need more support.

Doing the same exercise over and over again isn’t boring or “too repetitive.” It’s what gets you to become really good at it!!🧚🏼

The first few times, you’re mostly figuring out what you’re supposed to do. But after enough repetition, something changes — you start to actually feel the exercise.

You notice where you’re compensating.
What you’re controlling.
What feels different on one side.
What you could do better.

And btw, there’s always another layer to an exercise, even one you’ve done a hundred times. 😅

I personally don’t see repetition as something boring. It’s what allows you to really master something — and I think that’s the beauty of it. 🫶🏼

Can’t do the Pilates Roll Up? Start here.

The Roll Up requires more than abdominal strength. It involves spinal articulation, pelvic control and coordination.

That’s why I like breaking it down into smaller steps.

Each variation changes the demands of the movement, allowing you to practise specific components before bringing them together in the full exercise.

A few things to focus on as you practise:
→ Move without relying on momentum.
→ Keep the movement controlled rather than forcing your way through it.
→ Pay attention to how your pelvis and spine move.
→ Work within a range you can control, then gradually build from there.

And remember: struggling with the Roll Up doesn’t automatically mean your core is weak. Mobility, body proportions and coordination can all influence how the movement feels.

The goal isn’t just to get up. It’s to understand how to get there.🧚🏼 by @pulsewithema

POV: you move to a new city and you immediately start exploring Pilates studios and cafés 🫶🏼

This week’s new find: @unda___studio

Unda Studio is a self-guided Reformer studio, which basically means you book your spot, get your own Reformer, put your headphones on and follow the workout on the screen — completely at your own pace.

And as a Pilates instructor, I was VERY curious to try this from the other side.

No teaching. No cueing. No watching the clock. Just me, my Reformer and 50 minutes to actually switch off and move. 🎧

Obviously, no Pilates morning is complete without coffee… so I headed over to @ioa.coffeeshop afterwards for a little caffeine reward.🧚🏼

Still discovering Bucharest, but I think I’ve found a pretty good formula:

move → coffee → explore → repeat.

More of this, please. 🤍 taken in Bucharest, Romania by @pulsewithema
