I'm always thrilled to capture the excitement of a live baseball game, especially when I get to photograph the San Diego Padres and Giants games!

Here are some of my favorite non-action shots from the Padres' thrilling win over the Giants - from the fans cheering in the stands to the players' focused expressions on the field. I hope you enjoy them! ⚾️📸

Congratulations @yourowkelsey !! 🌊🚣‍♀️🏆

Kelsey Pfendler just completed one of the most extraordinary athletic feats in history — rowing 2,400 miles SOLO across the Pacific Ocean from Monterey, California to Hawaii. First American woman to do it. Fastest woman in history. And is the fastest person ever — breaking both the women's AND men's world records.

I first met Kelsey in June 2024 when I had the privilege of documenting her and Team Hericane — the four-woman crew she skippered through the World's Toughest Row Pacific. 40 days, 22 hours, and 14 minutes of open ocean rowing. Capsizing. Equipment failures. Adverse currents. They crossed anyway. When asked if she'd do it again, Kelsey didn't hesitate: "In a heartbeat."

And then she went back out. Alone. 2,400 miles. No team. No safety net.

This is what it looks like to be unstoppable. 💪

Beyond honored to have documented even a small part of this journey. Go follow @yourowkelsey — she's one of the most inspiring humans I've ever had the privilege to photograph.

Kelsey is rowing to raise funds for the Whale Foundation, an organization whose mission is to support, restore, and celebrate the health and well-being of the Grand Canyon river guiding community.

They call it the most beautiful ballpark in baseball. Today reminded me why. 🌉

@sfgiants  vs.@cubs  Oracle Park. June 14, 2026.

Logán Webb painting corners for 8 innings. Pete Crow-Armstrong tracking down fly balls in the gap. The San Francisco Bay sitting right there behind the wall like it always does — completely unbothered. And a team that needed a W finally getting one.

5-1 final. Oracle delivered. 📸

Oracle Park, Sunday afternoon.

8 innings. 7 Ks. 0 earned runs. The Giants ace shut down the Cubs — pure mound dominance, locked-in intensity, and a sellout crowd going electric on every strikeout.

Giants win 5-1. Webb gets the W.

✨ Some moments in life you never forget — and it has been an honor to witness and photograph some of the most unforgettable ones, all centered around one extraordinary man. 👑
I have followed Anze Kopitar @anzekopitar since the day he first laced up his skates as a King, and what a journey it has been. In 2012, I had the profound honor of being behind the lens when the Kings clinched their first Stanley Cup — a moment that still gives me chills. Then came the parade, the joy, the tears, the pure electricity of a city united. I was there for that too. And over the years, I was lucky enough to photograph him again and again, watching a legend grow into something even bigger than hockey.
Let the numbers tell part of the story: Kopi ranks first in Kings history in games played (1,454), first in assists (838), and second in points (1,278). NHL He led the team in scoring in all but four of his seasons and became the first Slovenian-born player to ever win the Stanley Cup. Two Stanley Cups. Two Selke Trophies. Three Lady Byng Trophies. One Messier Leadership Award. Five All-Star Games. The list goes on.
But statistics will never capture what makes Kopi truly special. It's the way he carries himself. The dignity, the grace, the quiet leadership that inspires everyone around him. He is regarded as a national hero in his native Slovenia — and honestly, he's a hero here in Los Angeles too.
Anze Kopitar really is — a devoted family man, a man of integrity, a man who gave this city everything he had for 20 years.

It will be painful not to see #11 in a Kings jersey. But a Hall of Fame call is coming — and when it does, know that all of us who watched him, cheered for him, and were lucky enough to photograph him, will be beaming with pride. 🏒
Thank you, Kopi. For the goals, the Cups, the memories — and for showing us all what it means to do it the right way.

Certain moments leave an indelible mark—and this is one such instance.

Having the privilege of photographing Jonathan Quick throughout his illustrious career was not merely an assignment, but a front-row seat to witnessing greatness unfold in real-time. The intensity, focus, and calm demeanor in the face of chaos—every attribute that solidified his position as one of the all-time greats.

Documenting his exceptional goaltending skills as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, culminating in two Stanley Cup Finals championships, was a truly special experience. Those victories transcended mere wins, becoming defining moments for the franchise, the city, and all fortunate enough to capture them. As a photographer, one pursues moments; as a fan of the game, one appreciates legacy. With Quick, I was fortunate to experience both.

'm still on a high from last night's epic show! Got to see the legendary @agent51official take the stage at the iconic @greatamericanmusichall after many years of taking a break from the music scene. It was like a blast from the past! Last time I saw them play was back in high school, and I have to say, they still have the same energy and charisma that got me hooked in the first place. The crowd was electric, and I was singing along to every song. It's amazing how their music can transport you back to a different time and place. I'm so grateful to have experienced it all again

PART 2 from the @mtnworkshops “I had to learn to take responsibility for what I did and go back through my life, recognizing things that had happened that may have influenced my actions,” Earlywine said. “Moral Reconation Therapy has completely changed the way I think. It has changed my life and taught me to be real and tell the truth.”

Between classes, Earlywine works in the kitchen, preparing three meals daily and often working until 8 p.m. before returning to her cell.

Not all inmates qualify for these programs. Recommendations are based on specific needs identified by the Kentucky Risk Assessment System. Mason County offers nine of the 14 educational programs available statewide such as Moral Reconation Therapy, Anger Management, Parenting and Substance Abuse Program among others.

The program’s ultimate goal is to prepare inmates to cope with life after release. Amber Mathis, serving time for a felony child support conviction, works in the kitchen and participates in the Master Gardener program, a self-funded project supported by commissary funds. It wasn't her first incarceration. She had been in and out of jail since she was young.

"Every time I come here, I get stronger, I get better," Mathis said. "This time, I've had time to improve with these classes and work programs.”

In anticipation of being released, Amber made a connection to join the Welcome House in Maysville. “They've done a lot of good things for a lot of people, and they want me to get involved,” she said. “I'm looking forward to that.”

She hoped to be released in December 2025.

According to the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, the programs are significantly impacting recidivism rates. As of 2025, statistics showed that over the previous two years, 70 percent of released inmates in the state had not returned to custody within 24 months.

Erica is determined not to end up back in jail and is participating in as many programs as possible.

“It’s just opened my eyes to so much,” she said. taken in Maysville, Kentucky by @punkeykid

Spent last week at @mtnworkshops in Maysville, KY here is the story I worked on. PART 1 One bad decision can land you in jail; getting out and staying out after being released can be difficult. The Mason County Detention Center is working to change that through offender programs and educational opportunities designed to prevent recidivism and prepare inmates for successful reentry into society.
Appointed jailer for Mason County in April 2017 and later elected to the position, Lisa Yearly partnered with the Kentucky Department of Corrections to bring rehabilitative classes to the facility. These programs, originally offered in state prisons, have expanded to many local detention centers across the state. For many inmates, these programs offer both personal growth and a more tangible incentive: a reduced sentence upon completion.

“If they successfully complete the program, they get up to 90 days off their sentence, so it’s a motivator for some of the inmates,” Lisa said. “It helps them and changes them. They want those 90 days.”

Erica Earlywine, a former president of the Flemingsburg School Parent-Teacher Organization, is serving a 10-year sentence for unlawful taking (valued over $1,000) and four counts of solicitation to tamper with physical evidence. That sentence was probated for five years on the conditions that she serve 30 consecutive days in jail, pay $20,000 in restitution to the Fleming County schools and file an affidavit explaining her role in the thefts. Erica had no priors and began her jail sentence in July 2025.
Twice weekly, Erica attends anger management classes where inmates learn emotional control and thoughtful decision-making.
