Das a wrap on my newest and biggest mural.

Words cannot adequately express my gratitude to Aotearoa for her hospitality. What a DREAM to paint here, in our vast moana, on the motu of our Maori ohana.

Here’s a peak at my time in Otautahi, though my shifty editing and camera work will never do it justice.

Mahalo for this magical life and for the opportunities to share our pasifika stories through art and creativity.

A bad bitch will get a mural painted on their home.

But only Da Baddest will get mural of themselves on a unicorn floatie painted on the garage doors of their Makaha mansion.

We’ve been talking about doing this together forever and I’m SO glad it’s finally done. It’s absolutely one of my MOST favorite murals so far and it was such a beautiful and perfect experience.

Excited to be welcoming back Shar Tui’asoa | @punkyaloha for her second solo show with us here in Los Angeles, following her debut solo museum show that took place last summer in her home of O’ahu.

’Suns, Stars, and Story Systems’ is a visual observation into the Pacific Islander traditions of oration and storytelling that begins in the cosmos and pours out of the mouths of our great storytellers and speakers.

🗓️ Opening Reception:
Saturday, October 10 from 6-10PM

* Free and open to all. Come enjoy community, vinyl DJs, an open bar courtesy of Sir Davis, lite bites from Malama Pono, and a special performance at 7:15PM from Jay Taj + learn more about Indigenous People’s Day from our friends at the SoCal Pacific Islander Community Response Team

The best weekend with the best people at @kilo_summit , a space tucked away upstairs from the festival that felt like an oasis.

To be in an intentional space, designed and curated so thoughtfully under the guidance of @kuhao @zaknoyle & @cakezinni was such a wonderful experience.

Selling things was probably the last thing on my mind. I spent most of my time making amazing new friends, painting mini murals with the best collaborators, and soaking in all the mana the space had to offer. I don’t do markets, but if I did, this is exactly how I’d like to experience them. My heart is so full.

I’m so lucky to get to have these experiences. Mahalo to @kilo_summit and @madeinhi for the beautiful weekend. by @punkyaloha

The orator speaks and brings back from her travels the gift of story. The gift of mo’olelo.

She crafts her narration in her lei po’o of stars. In the cosmos; where she speaks and listens to our ancestors ancestors. Their stories are ancient. They are older than the stars.

Our people sail wa’a on the waves of her words. Tales of lands and mountains grip the ears of our keiki; the next generation of navigators.

Stories become markings as vital as wai. They nourish our mana and float back to clouds and into the stars again.

@nike flew me and my Punky Aloha team out to HQ to tour the campus and share that Punky Aloha goodness with all their employees at the Nike Ascend Fest back in May.

I met so many wonderful folks at Nike and was surprised how many people already owned my art or had my children’s book. You really never know where your art is gonna end up and whose eyes see it.

Big Mahalo to the amazing Pacific Islander group PAC for making it happen. I’m so glad we connected and can’t wait for more fun 🙌🏽.
