For many years, Kelly has explored the idea of a Māori drum language, recognising that while many Pacific cultures hold strong drum traditions, this is an area we are still actively reawakening within our own contexts through taonga pūoro, performing arts, and making practices.

From Dialogue to Action – Advancing the Pan-Indigenous Declaration.

The Pan-Indigenous Networking Session returns to build on the momentum of last year’s gathering, where Indigenous artists, cultural leaders, and industry allies began shaping a shared declaration for visibility, equity, and collaboration across the global music sector. This year’s 90-minute session will share the outcomes and learnings from that process, provide space to review progress, and map a pathway towards a formalised Indigenous Declaration Plan to be launched in future editions.

With the start of this new year, we are excited to announce that WOMEX, the Worldwide Music Expo, is officially opening the Call for Proposals for its 31st edition. This year, WOMEX will take place in Tampere, Finland, from 22 to 26 October 2025, inviting the global music community to come together in celebration of musical diversity and innovation.

The call for proposals is open to musicians, filmmakers, and music professionals worldwide, fostering a global representation of talent. Each year, the official programme is selected by an independent, international jury (the jury members for this year will be announced in the coming weeks).
Proposals can be submitted in four categories:

✅Showcase ✅Club Summit ✅Film ✅Conference
Proposals can be submitted through the dedicated website: womex-apply.com.

🔔The deadline for sending the proposals is Friday, 28 February 2025. 🔔
