For Teatro SEA’s Viva Pinocho, every detail of the puppet was created with care, imagination, and an incredible love for the art of puppetry.

Created by the talented José López @jlopezartaistudio , Pinocho takes shape piece by piece — from the first drawing to his face, his tiny details, and the hands that bring him to life. 🎭❤️

Because sometimes, the magic of theatre begins long before the curtain opens. It begins with an idea, a pair of hands, and a character waiting to be born.

Meet ¡Viva Pinocho! A Mexican Pinocchio, Teatro SEA’s heartwarming musical retelling of the classic tale — seen through the eyes of a young Mexican immigrant searching for identity, heritage, and a sense of belonging in a new country. 🇲🇽🪵❤️

Through puppetry, music, and storytelling, Pinocchio’s journey becomes a celebration of culture, family, and the question we all carry with us:

A herd of life-size buffalo puppets moving through Manhattan. Poetry in the open air. Live rhythms drawing people closer.

At Park Place Plaza, Teatro SEA joined Nuyorican Poets Café for Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi, a public art celebration inspired by the buffalo’s return from near extinction and a shared hope for healing.

To the artists who shared their voices, the neighbors who stopped to listen, and everyone who walked with the herd: thank you for being part of this moment. ❤️

Presented by St. Ann’s Warehouse, The Walk Productions & KBH Arts.

To our staff, volunteers, partners, venues, supporters, audiences, and entire Puppet Fringe community—thank you for your time, dedication, hard work, and love for puppetry.

📸🎭 A LOOK BACK AT NANCY STAUB’S EXTRAORDINARY LEGACY

One of the special highlights of the International Puppet Fringe NYC 2026 was the celebration of legendary puppetry advocate Nancy Lohman Staub, one of this year’s festival honorees.

Through Scattered Happy Memories of Puppet Friends by a 93-Year-Old, audiences had the opportunity to discover a remarkable photographic archive documenting Nancy’s decades-long journey through the world of puppetry—capturing friendships, artists, performances, festivals, and unforgettable moments from across the international puppetry community. (Puppet Fringe NYC⁠)

Nancy Staub created and directed the Puppet Playhouse in New Orleans and played an important role in organizing the 1980 World Puppetry Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Her lifelong dedication helped shape and connect the puppetry community in the United States and beyond. (Puppet Fringe NYC⁠)

✨ More than an exhibition, this was a celebration of a life dedicated to puppets, artists, friendship, and the preservation of puppetry history.

Thank you, Nancy, for sharing your memories and helping us remember the people and moments that have made this art form so extraordinary. ❤️🎭
