To my wonderful sona, Dex Antares. It’s been about 7 years since your creation, in high school. We’ve come such a long way, and I owe a lot to you. I owe you the ability to learn to love myself, even the things I don’t like. Before every major piece of transition, it was you that took the brave first step. First to wear short shorts, eyeliner, a bra. You’ve been through so many tears and yet, so much trans joy. You are your own smart, kind, silly being, and yet you are me. Thank you for being the version of myself I wished to become. You’ve always lived a little farther in the future than me, but I’ve finally caught up. At one point you insured me that I could have a future, that there was hope for me. May every scar glisten, may every stretch mark line you like a tiger’s stripes. I’ve always felt most comfortable by myself in the woods. I don’t know if it’s the lack of people or the escape from society, or the cold air, or the lack of social anxiety I feel, but it feels great to lean against a tree and listen to music when I know, no one can see me. No one can observe me. I might do brave stuff, but I’m a pretty anxious person, inside and out. I feel kind of like an alien compared to a lot of people, besides my niche bubble of likeminded queers, and nature is something that has always been healing. It’s like I can feel the force when I’m out there, looking up at the stars and the trees. It makes me feel like a Jedi, and then, it don’t all seem so scary. I’ve been struggling more with my mental health lately, and that means the more time I spend by myself, sometimes drinking or smoking a j, in nature. And it’s a damn good escape by @puppoid
