NeoCon Student Summit is on Wednesday, June 10th from 10:30am – 2:30pm. The day starts with a professional in design expo where students can come around to different tables and chat with professionals in the field. After lunch, there will be an interesting journey mapping experience lead by a few designers. Best yet, you don’t have to prepare anything for it; no resumes or portfolios!

Purdue alumna Olivia Danielson-Veed (HOK) is one of the speakers at the expo. The program is capping it at 100 students so sign up fast!

Guest Lecture March 3rd with Lamar Johnson!⭐️

As a registered architect in 34 states, including California, Lamar leads a multi-disciplinary practice
that invigorates his clients’ businesses by simultaneously expressing their values, supporting their
culture, and expressing their legacy through architecture. In understanding his client’s objectives,
Lamar is both an active listener and a strong leader for facilitating, coordinating, and implementing
a clients’ vision. Lamar moved to Chicago more than 20 years ago to open and lead a new office for
a large global design firm. Under his leadership, the firm grew to become the largest architecture
firm in the Chicago area, providing services to the region’s most prestigious clients.
Actively involved with civic, community, and not-for-profit organizations, Lamar serves on the
Cristo Rey Board of Directors and is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.
His commitment to community endeavors has been recognized with the AIA Illinois’ R Buckminster
Fuller Award for dedication to humanitarian concerns and social impact; and “Man of the Year”
honors from the Chicago Building Congress and Real Estate Council of the City of Hope. by @purdue.intd

Cindy Coleman brings a unique perspective that bridges the worlds of design practice, strategic thinking, and academic inquiry. As the former Director of Strategy at Gensler Chicago, she shaped the strategic direction for one of the world’s leading architecture and design firms, ensuring that design solutions were grounded in deep research and aligned with client objectives. In her role as Editorial Lead of the Gensler Research Institute, she championed the dissemination of research-driven insights that influence design thinking across the industry.
Throughout her career, Coleman has cultivated a practice that seamlessly integrates design education with professional design work, advocating for a research-informed approach to the design process. Coleman’s dual commitment to practice and pedagogy positions her as a thought leader who not only shapes built environments but also cultivates the next generation of strategic design thinkers. by @purdue.intd
