Jared Trask, doctoral researcher in @anscpurdue and @purduefnr, essentially built The Sims for farm biosecurity — powered by real-world data collected from wild birds and rodents. 🐀🐦

By combining field observations from Purdue’s Animal Sciences Research and Education Center with computer modeling, Trask is helping researchers better understand where wildlife movement may increase the risk of avian influenza and how changes to farm landscapes could help reduce that risk.

Through larval grafting, beekeepers are able to trick a beehive to produce many queens at once.

The Beekeepers of Indiana is a nonprofit that connects Hoosier beekeepers, and provides them with educational resources. One of those opportunities takes place at Purdue University's Bee Lab where Krispn Given teaches students how to produce their own queens. Learn how this skill enables beekeepers to produce better quality bees and make more bee-licious honey in this episode of Across Indiana!

Three current and former #PurdueAg students are taking their education around the world after earning prestigious international awards and scholarships. 🌍

Kendall Daniels, a 2024 graduate in @nrespurdue , was selected for the @the_fulbright_program U.S. Student Program Research/Study Grant and will begin a master’s degree in environmental science in Sweden this fall.

Lauren Toepp, incoming junior in @‌purduefnr, received a @statedept @gilmanscholarship and will travel to Sweden and Norway for a month-long international resources course led by @lifeatpurdue faculty.

Morgan Hamilton, incoming senior in Purdue Forestry and Natural Resources, also earned a Gilman Scholarship and will study marine megafauna in Turks and Caicos this summer.
