Pre-order Vinyl: Link in Bio
Streetdate April 21, 2023 Vinyl & Digital

The four tracks on King Fear are a reunion with that mid 90s hardcore techno Pure was known for already back in the day. Vienna-raised and now Berlin-based, he has been around for over 30 years traversing through highly diverse fields of electronic music. As one of the originators he introduced Vienna to techno and rave from 1991 on as DJ and promoter of countless illegal and semi-illegal parties and raves through the 90s while at the same time regularly playing big raves in Germany with his duo Ilsa Gold together with Christopher Just. Now King Fear on Marc Acardipane's imprint Planet Phuture: Starting off with Rage - a track that takes its title almost too literal building from pounding broken beats with a stoic sort-of-hoover sound culminating into an explosion of screams and noises provided by long-time ally M-F-X. Second track Nichts Anderes uses 20th century classical music elements that evoke the atmosphere of Slovenian forests to turn a song about love into a dark dancefloor killer. First track on the flip side (if you are oldschool enough to have the vinyl version) aka track three is title track King Fear – an elegant take on doomcore with low enough bpm to keep the heaviness dark and the darkness heavy while drones and plane engine-like noises are painting a bleak picture of the current state of mankind in the listeners minds. And finally Blast Beast which is, well, a beast blasting beats like a machine gun in a monkey's hand. This is techno rooted in industrial music without being taken over by it. Dance music for which warehouses were built in the 19th century and abandoned in the 20th. Nichts Anderes ist der Mühe wert.
