‘Dream, Baby Butch’

The new EP by Luce Mawdsley

Music composed for ‘Catherine Opie: Moments of Being’ a film by Becky Manson for the National Galleries of Scotland.

Out September 4th on Pure O Records

Pre order on Bandcamp and listen to ‘Triptych’ on select streaming platforms now.

All proceeds from this release go to Liverpool charity, Sahir. Sahir does incredible work here in Liverpool (and beyond) offering practical and emotional support for LGBTQ+ people and those living with and affected by HIV.

Immense gratitude to Catherine Opie for lending ‘Self-Portrait 1970’ for use with this release.

Delighted to be welcoming two ecstatic talents, Ben Copperhead and L.T Leif to Liverpool’s favourite railway platform on the 12th of April.

Ben Copperhead & The Stringed Serpents

Rooted in folk music with an “otherworldly” banjo style, Copperhead uses modal and tonal explorations, while sometimes using samplers, processed drum machines, tape loops, and handmade electronic instruments inspired by the experimentalism of Musique Concrète.

His latest recording, Wailing Viridescence, was released on the legendary Shimmy-Disc label run by Kramer who is responsible for producing and putting out Ween, Galaxy 500, Daniel Johnston and countless classics. In 2017, Copperhead released The Serpent and the Sparrow on UK’s Tin Angel Records, followed by tours with Trembling Bells and Devon Sproule.

Copperhead will be performing with his band The Stringed Serpents, featuring: UK-based Chris Cundy on bass clarinet and Euan Rodger on drums and percussion.

L.T Leif

A wild dog chasing the sun! L.T.Leif brings the many-hearted music of the swampwitch. Slow-felt swamp glitch.

Based out of Glasgow and rooted in the DIY spirit of the Canadian prairies, Leif is also deep-dipped in Iceland, Finland, and the Pacific NW. Leif has been involved in many bands and projects, from experimental noise collaborations with the infamous Bill Wells to playing sold-out shows with the punk-hearted OK JAZZ, working with Scottish dreamboats Pictish Trail and Susan Bear on a collaborative psych-rock album (Lost Map Presents Weird Wave), recreating the music of Ivor Cutlor alongside Emma Pollock, drumming with slacker-rock bands (Hex Ray and Hungry Freaks), and singing in a witch choir (Hermitess). Their work has been honoured through concert and collaboration with musicians across Canada, the states, the UK and the European North.

Leif’s spirit is eternally collaborative, generative, experimental, and kind – the band members and the parameters of the project are often changing, but, as Leifsays of the project: “to the friendships and the moment we are grateful and stay true”

Feeling total thrills and absolute honours to be asked by the forces of wonder that are Melos Kalpa to open for them at their album launch at Cafe OTO on the 18th of November. Melos Kalpa are comprised of some of the most exceptional creative beings and sweetest friends around. Their debut LP is out on Hands In The Dark Records in October and this is sure to be a special night. I will be joined by buddies Nicholas Branton and Michael Paul Metcalfe.
