Sometimes the problem isn’t that you’re “bad” at something. You just haven’t learned what to look for yet.

Once you understand what properly bleached knots should look like, how the lace should blend, or where the hairline needs more attention, you start seeing your own work differently.

And that’s where real improvement starts.

Not from doing the same thing over and over hoping you’ll eventually get better, but from developing the knowledge to recognize what needs to change and why.

That’s how your eye gets trained. That’s how your technique gets stronger. And eventually, the things you once struggled to notice become the things you catch immediately.

Sometimes one small correction really can change the entire finished product.

I want you to sit with this one because I know how easy it is to feel like the answer is always one more strategy away.

Maybe you need to post more. Maybe you need a better content strategy. Maybe you should try ads. Maybe your website needs work.

And any one of those things could eventually help your business.

But before you put more money, time and energy into learning how to convince people to buy your wigs, I want you confident in what you’re asking them to buy.

Because there is something backwards about spending hundreds of dollars learning how to market a product when you’re still unsure how to properly finish the product itself.

Get that foundation right.

And that’s not to say marketing doesn’t matter. It absolutely does.

But marketing becomes a much more useful skill when you have something desirable to put behind it.

So if you’ve been jumping from strategy to strategy trying to figure out how to make more sales, this might be your sign to stop adding more things to your plate and go back to the actual wig.

Master your knots. Get better at your hairlines. Learn how to get that closure flat and create a clean finished product you feel confident putting a price on.

Then market the hell out of it.

Your customer is already looking.

She’s already on Instagram. She’s already saving wigs. She’s already comparing lace, hairlines, density, styling, prices, reviews and trying to decide who she trusts enough to send her money to.

So the question isn’t always, “How do I find more customers?”

Sometimes the better question is:

“Why would the customer who is already looking stop at mine?”

Because having good hair isn’t enough when everybody says they have good hair.

Posting consistently isn’t enough when your customer has seen 30 other wigs before she gets to yours.

And lowering your price won’t automatically make a product more desirable. Sometimes it just makes you less profitable.

Your wig has to give her a reason to stop comparing.

The customization, the finished look, the way you present it, the pricing, and your positioning is what makes your product worth choosing.

That’s the difference between simply having wigs available for sale and building a wig business around a product people actually want.

You should already know me by now. Around here we get right into it! (Bc “IT” is long 🫠)

1. You have not mastered your product.

Now babe, with a sea of wig businesses flooding the online market, by now you have to be self-aware of the level of wig customization & styling that’s making customers pay attention and open their wallets.

Can bad-looking wigs still sell? Of course! But those wig brands usually have a strong personality backing them.

And because I know exactly who I’m talking to, I know that we’re more on the introverted side. So we especially have to let our wig styling skills speak for us because you and I both know we’ll catch an anxiety attack if we turn on this camera and show social media our true personality. 😂

Which brings me to number 2!

2. You absolutely do not know who your target customer is.

You think you know who your target customer is, but you’re targeting a broad audience instead of a specific person.

And you’ll never be comfortable talking (aka marketing) to your followers if your target customer is just “18–35-year-old women.” Now you’re unsure if playing a Sexyy Red audio on one of your Reels is gonna affect how some of your followers look at you.

And uncertainty messes with the #1 thing you need to consistently show up online and market your wig business… CONFIDENCE!

Now because I talk too much, am just going to list the next 3 for you… 😂

#3. You do not have a signature style wig, so you have not built any authority in the wig market.

#4. Your prices are too low! Selling a $500 wig is great! 😊 But selling a $500 wig with little to no profit margin will slowly put both you and your wig business into debt. 💸

#5. You have no idea how to turn viewers into sales. I know they said just post the content!! Lol. Just post the content!! Babe, please don’t! You need a strategy!!! That’s how people make sales!

Your customer is shopping with her eyes first.

Before she knows how soft the hair feels, how little it sheds, or how long it lasts, she’s already forming an opinion about what your wig is worth based on what she can actually see.

And sometimes, the difference between a wig that looks expensive and one that simply uses expensive hair comes down to the details.

A clean scalp illusion. A realistic hairline. A finished product that visually supports the price attached to it.

Because quality hair can give you a great foundation, but your customization determines what your customers will believe.
